How do you set grippers?

For some reason I just cannot set a gripper worth a crap. I can set my #2 no prob, but anything bigger is a no go, how do i get better at this?

If you want to cert with IM, just train no-set from the get go.

Mostly it takes a lot of instinct I think, setting that is. Setting is something I did even before I heard about it here.

first of all as your crush gets stronger your set will get stronger.

pinch the handles with your thumb and index and walk your fingers up the handle with you crushing hand untill its set were you want it, then squeeze!

Practice alot! A simple solution but it worked for me. I had never heard of or used a set until my first grip competition...it took me a long time to get to the point where setting felt comfortable. In fact for a long time I could close a harder gripper w/o a set than I could with one!

Squeeze the handles with your index and thumb and use your gripping hand to put more pressure, closing it some more, you should be able to hold the gripper at this sopt, (like a negative) with your index and thumb. Use this split second to shift your hand and wrap your fingers around the gripper. Now take away the set hand and squeeze.
