Michael86
I need one of you more experience and versed grippers to tell me how the 250lb heavygrip compares to the COC#3.Thank You.
Vice
The HG250 is much easier than the average #3.
Mikulich
I need one of you more experience and versed grippers to tell me how the 250lb heavygrip compares to the COC#3.Thank You. ← My 250 feels similar to my COC # 2. My 300 feels easier than the easiest COC # 3 I have ever tried.
pdoire
My HG250 is weaker than my IM#2..by a little bit. It is way weaker than my #3. My HG300 is weaker than my 3 by a bit.
mobsterone
If you remove the idea, as per Heavygrips own site, that it is 250lbs you'll be off to a start. It is NUMBERED 250. That is not what it is rated at.
Guest Clawed
Al heavy grip grippers other than the HG500 are much easier than a COC #3. They are poor quality and get easier and easier to close. IMHO they are not worth buying.

IMHO they are not worth buying. ← I respectfully disagree with you. My HG 400 is harder than any of the COC # 3's I own. Although I use my COC and Beef Builders far more often than any of my HGs I do like my HGs. They are lighter and easier to transport. The spread on all but the monsterous HG 400 & 500 are smaller than those found on a COC and thus are good for people with smaller hands. Left Side
The 250 is about 165-180 on the Ironmind scale. My HG300 is almost as hard as my #3, very close to it. The point is, the HG's vary a lot, but I still think the 250 is a wise investment.

Hg's vary incredibly...we will get a million different answers and all will be right. So the real answer is "it depends on what one YOU have" Edited September 13, 2005 by pdoire

Sybersnott
They (the Heavy Grips) are poor quality and get easier and easier to close. IMHO they are not worth buying. ← I'm sorry... but I disagree. I think the HG's are great for someone just getting into the grip game. Much more variety of a guage to determine where you are in terms of grip strength than the COC's IMHO.
Michael86
Yes I recently found this out when my C.O.C.'s came in the other day. I could get a solid grind on the HG250 but im an 1/8in. away from closing the #2.Im very satisfied w/ the grippers I finaly understand what yall have been trying to tell me in the quality difference, I still like my HG's but they will be making a trip to the ole vice an file. Would someone explain this dogleg and non dogleg side to me tho, and is its better or worse to file both sides?Thank You. Dave Lemanczyk
My 250 feels like a I.M. #2 on Caffeine MY 300 is a LOT harder than my pair of I.M. 3's I always seems to get a hold of very stiff grippers.
John Beatty
I like the HG's for no set, as they're narrower. My 400 is easier than my #3, I've closed the 40, never closer than 1/8" on my #3. My 250 is easier than my #2. I like them, for the variety & cost. I think they're a good investment for someone jst starting out. You get a variety for low cost. Alawadhi
my 250 is easier than my #2 (almost 178 lbs). my 300 is a lot harder than my #2. My #3 is a lot harder than my 300. I think grippers vary (spelling?) from person to person. Edited September 22, 2005 by Alawadhi

You get a variety for low cost. ← And the key word is VARIETY... just like I said. Don't confuse this word with the word QUALITY. The jump between a #2 and a #3 is a big one. Enter the HG's - the 250 and the 300 might be good "bridge" grippers going between the IM #2 and the IM #3.
Soilworker
Would someone explain this dogleg and non dogleg side to me tho, and is its better or worse to file both sides?Thank You. ← The dogleg is the side that the spring goes into slightly, and I mean very slightly, cock-eyed. Like 2 degrees of angle or less. Very hard to see. I don't see the point in filing both sides, but to each his own.
