Sybersnott
That's the thickest 45lb plate I have seen. ← It reminds me of an old York plate - deep hub and deep rims. I was wondering if anyone had any info about these plates. I found these two 45's at a P.I.A.S. store near where I live. I bought them on the spot!! kerbjr
A buddy of mine Thom VanVleck has a whole set of those Jackson weights, I will ask him the history on them. His Grandpa Dalton Jackson started our weight lifting club in the 1920's ( The Jackson Weight lifting Club) and Thom has looked high and low for a set of these cause they just happen to have the same name. He told me the history on them in the past but as usual I wasnt paying attention No disrespect meant to Syber but they are very easy to hublift even without chalk cause of the huge hubs. I can barely get a 25lber on any other set and can pack those suckers around the gym for laps..... I will see Thom tomorrow night and will get the info on them. On a side note they are very nice, high quality weights.......Brett
Sybersnott
No disrespect meant to Syber but they are very easy to hublift even without chalk cause of the huge hubs. ← I agree with you, I got them just because of the hubs... I've seen 45 pound plates like this, but on these plates the hub is very profound - like these plates were especially made to be hublifted. I didn't have any 45's to hublift until I got these and the only other plates I have are the Marcy plates and they are 55 pounds. I can get the Marcy 55#er with my right hand, but nothing doing with my left. I want to train my left hand on hublifting and thought that these plates would be a great training tool to do that. kerbjr
Syber sorry but I forgot about this post. If you go to the following site you can read the history of Andy Jackson and the Jackson barbell co. It is a great read about a great guy.... http://www.naturalstrength.com/history/ajackson.html Enjoy.....Brett Edited September 10, 2005 by kerbjr
