ishred
yesterday, i brought my grippers into work to let someone try them. This guy doesn't lift weights or do any grip training. he is however, tall and has huge hands. he is 6'8", about 240lbs. I handed him the trainer....was like a toy to him #1....closed easy. hg250 (traded my 2 to ben edwards)....came within 1/4-1/2" or closing it. could have easily closed the #2. i let him play around with the 3 and 4 after that, but his hands were feeling the effects of his multiple attempts on the hg250. The only genetic gift this guy has is his huge hands. I'm sure with some training he could close a #3 within a month. I wish i knew some other tall people to try these grippers with....wonder if they would have the same results.
handgripperman
If he gets into grippers he will close the 3 in no time.

5xfive
The parts guy at my job, is 6'8" and couldnt close the trainer. Really close, but no go. Actually of all the men at work there are only 3 other people that can close the trainer. none can smash the 1. On a hand size related question. Anyone have hands under 7", like me? n8

king crusher
ok if the guy was 1/4-1/2 on the hg250 he couldent easily do the 2. lol my 2 is not much less then my hg250. so id say he might get the 2 to an 1/8th. so he would not be closing a 3 in a month. i closed a 2 first try and couldent get a 3 in a month. food for thought. Bananafingers
My hg250 is easier than my 2. I have an unusually tough 2 I think though.

Dave H
There is a guy in town here named Kenny Hilton who is 6-6, 220. Nice kid, only about 26. He has tried my grippers. Could close the trainer and #1 - but barely the #1. So he bought himself a Trainer and trains with it 3 times a week. But says that he is not interested in buying a harder one because the trainer has made his hands strong enough for anything he needs to do. Sixgun... pahulkster
Only one out of my friends who have tried my grip stuff can close the #1. I asked my father to try them, but he refused for some reason. I'd be willing to bet he could close the #2 and probably come close to the #3, though. ishred
well i know he could easily close a #2 because the hg250 i got from ben edwards is harder than my #2 that i sent him, which is the 3rd hardest #2 he ever tried. If he took this seriously, imho he could close a 3 in a month.
asickber
I brought my #2 home from college the other do for my dad to try. If we lock fingers together and he squeezes his fingers together it feels like he is going to break my knuckles and he doesn't even try hard before I can't take it. He has never worked out, but farm work and carpentry has made him very strong. He's 6'3'' and around 300. When I gave him the gripper he didn't know what I wanted him to do with it and just started squeezing it. He was closing it to about 1/2 inch over and over effortlessly. I tried to get him to set it and try to close it all the way but he wasn't interested. My two brohters are 6'6'' and 6'7'', they both closed it to within a cenitmeter and I'm sure if they knew how to set it they could close it. If this is due to height and big hands, I don't know. Dave Lemanczyk
I usually train with my grippers (#2 & #3) while I work in the bar and club. I hand them out periodically to people that ask me to try it. I have not seen one person close my #2 yet (which I have REALLY broken in) but some have came close. I have a brand new # 3 so the only person I have seen close it is me. VERY stiff. I really enjoy how the people that have asked form y gripper to try have laughed thinking it would be a joke, then, they are humbled. Octogen
I let some people try the #1, #2 and #3 after a kettlebell workshop as part of a little demonstration to show that there are lots of different ways to train. None of them got close but they were all pretty normal non strength trainers. Still it was interesting to see them try and they had a good time just playing around. I also let them try some bending with some easy 1/4" and 3/16". A couple of guys got a kink in the 1/4" and two of the girls got the 3/16" My little brother (10yrs old) also got the 3/16 with a little bracing. I think showing people this stuff but not pushing it as an elitist thing is great for the sport and hopefully gets more people in
bencrush
Ishred, good timing with this post regarding the grippers. I took the hard #2 that you traded me to a defensive tactics instructor school on the 18th through the 22nd. There were 7 DT instructors who tried my grippers. None closed the #2, with the exception of my heavily muscled 47 year old fellow DT instructor from my department. He has messed with the grippers before. All closed my Trainer, including the only female in class. 3 closed my #1. My buddy closed the hard #2 with an audible CLICK! And he very rarely picks up a gripper to train. That's quite an achievement because it's a damn hard #2. First guy I've given it to yet who's actually closed it. I also met a large guy in his mid 50s who was chomping at the bit to try the grippers. He closed the Trainer, #1, easy #2, and finally the hard #2! All with an audible click. He is an amateur MMA fighter by night and a janitor by day. No kidding. Very tough man I've been told. And extremely humble when he closed the hard #2. Said something along the line of, "That's a pretty hard gripper." And he was sincere. Almost closed my PDA280 after all the gripper work. He also was able to move the handles on my Cert GM (which is harder than any #3 I've tried) about 1/2" when it was in a hose clamp set at 1" or close to it. The janitor is hooked and asked for the website to IM and also to here. Hopefully he will join and certify on the #3 soon. I'd guess it would be less than a year. Far less probably.
