ironorr
I went out and bought a nice vice and set up a little wooden table in my basement to season my stronger grippers with. It makes it much easier to season them now and instead of force closing them on my thighs. I did about 25 closes on my new #4 today and I will probably do 25 closes every day this week until I get to about 100-125. I'll then start doing my other grippers in my collection. Fun stuff! handgripperman
Sounds like a great idea. The vice doesnt mess up the knurling on the gripper
Clay Edgin
Cool. I just run a 100d nail through the gripper spring, put one foot on the end of the nail, and use the other foot to stomp the gripper shut 100 times.
ironorr
I will be getting a digital camera soon and I will start a pic album right away. I already have plenty of pics of equipment and PR that I can take. To prevent the knurling from being damaged, I duct taped a folded thick rag to each sides of the vice to protect them. I'm trying to look for cushion covers made for the vice so they can be put on or taken off however you desire. honk
Whats the deal with gripper seasoning? Making the gripper weaker to a needed strength or to that point were it doesn´t get weeker?
The Mac
To that point where it will not get weaker.
Lyle
Whats the deal with gripper seasoning? Making the gripper weaker to a needed strength or to that point were it doesn´t get weeker? ← a gripper takes about 100 or more closes to becomes seasoned, this means it will get a little weaker but as studies done by "PDA" I think, after this many closes there is no change in strength, therefore you have a consistant gripper to work with. Steve B.
Why not just season it the old fashion way with negatives/holds.You get a workout and by the time you season it your stronger.Doing it in a vice makes no sense to me.

If it takes 100 closes, I doubt any of my grippers are seasoned then.

After seasoning it I could almost chest crush it and did shortly thereafter and setting it was hard but not the exhausting affair it was before The point is there was no doing negatives or holds with it prior to seasoning because it was just too much.
