Bill Piche
I did some videos comparing the MMG1's. Then, I did one comparing an early MMG1 prototype (called MMG1 dud) to the current MMG1 cert grippers. Warren Tetting was given very explicit measurements to create these grippers and all are consistent. They were even made back to back to avoid a different spring batch being used. http://www.cyberpump.com/gallery/mashmonster
Rick Walker
Yep...they all look alike. Though I measured it slightly different. I stuck the ruler clean through, instead of slanting it towards the opposite side. Maybe that is why I got the measurement I did. Also, we compared it to steve's MM DUD. Certainly, the MM DUD spring was lower. But they felt almost identical in strength with the DUD being a tad stronger at the close. But, I still stand by what I said. The gripper Steve closed was harder. Unless, of course, I have somehow lost all of my crushing strength? I guess I will find out soon as my BBGM will be here at noon-and this gripper felt identical to the MM1 I closed. I had them both at the same place, at the same time. I will be awating the test results, though I know what I know. Rick Walker
Bill Piche
Again, I don't doubt that part of it (that it was harder). I think it's likely a maintenance issue and possibly seasoning as well. The MMG1 gripper Steve used is very dry and chalk embedded in the spring (see the video). I actually think it may be binding but will not make an attempt with it to keep it in the same way for the testers. It's good this came out sooner than later so proper changes can be made in the process.
jad
Thanks Bill, the mounting is certainly the same on all of them. Very clear and precise video
Rob Vigeant
I just looked at the videos of Robbies mm1 close and i found that the letter Ms on the bottom of the grippers are consistant with the one gripper that you stated was the same one that Steve closed. The middle grippers Ms do NOT line up with the gripper Robbie closed. The first gripper in the video does not show the bottom so i couldn't tell about that one so without seeing the first gripper I would say that Steve DID close the right gripper.......NOW will you keep them clean and oiled
Bill Piche
I asked Jeff Peterson what occurred during the making of the MMG1's and here's what he said: "Yes all were seasoned 75 reps apiece. I, Dave O., My brother and I all tried them. We tested them all a million ways. Eyes shut and passing them around, all trying one then another then the last. They were tested and at the time they all checked out OK. "
