maidenfan
I originally started with the 8lber, but now have the 12lber (if you have larger hands go with the heavier ones). I dont use it much, but its a good tool and works the hand well.
John Beatty
The softball is where I got the idea. I made a softball years ago & really liked it, & when I started FBBC I thought it would be pretty cool to have one made out of steel (of cast iron as the case may be). The bomb is a hair tougher as the surface of the softball is a little easier to grab - justt a little give, plus the seams. I made a 16lb just for fon last week, haven't tried it with weight, but it's a monster.
Chuckie B.
John, I made one using a #16 shot put about a year ago, it's a lot of fun. I use it to go for max weight (#30) and then with only #5 on the loading pin for one arm swings, outside of course.
CMunger
I tried one that Sward brought back from St. Louis last winter, fun little item. What ever got sorted out for "rules" for lifts with it? We were using middle finger not quite touching the attachment part, seemed to be the most fair.
maidenfan
Just a tad variance on your grip on those things make a huge difference on the amount of weight you can pull. It be hard to use them in a comp, but awesome for working out with.
John Beatty
I do it with fingertips even & parallel to the ground.
Chuckie B.
I do it with fingertips even & parallel to the ground. ← add, with pressure applied just below the center of the shot. It works for me.(8" hands)
