Handgrippers /wrist Strength?

Could you explain why you think this?

I cannot see any way that using the gripper could strengthen your wrists. Of course, if your stronger hands allow you to use your wrists more effectively, that could give the appearance of stronger wrists without the fact.

I would have to say that it does. I have an injured left wrist right now. It is to the point where I can now use it for most everything, the only time it hurts is when I try to lift really heavy. BUT, I can not even close my trainer with my left hand. I could close to #2 before my injury, and can get the 2 for 3 reps with right currently. From this, I would have to assume that the wrists do play an important role in gripping.

Working with grippers will build some wrist strength, but not much since your wrists are stressed isometrically with direct gripper work.

To a large extent, the strength of your wrists will be an indication of just how far you can go with the grippers. This is why I always coach wrist training along with specific gripper training.

make the tightest fist you can , hold it, then with your free hand bend your wrist while resisting with the fisted hand, yes grippers build wrist strenght, the tendons that close your fingers attach to muscles in your forearm these tendons must cross the wrist, so when strenghtened with grippers they will make the wrist stronger, "this only applys to flexing the wrist not extending it, obviously you must strenghten both sides for total wrist strenght"
