deaner
I was just wondering what are some opinions of the ivanko supergripper. I just got one in the mail by mistake and was wondering if I should send it back or just keep it, it seems pretty cool, but I'm just curious if it carries over to other grippers. deaner
After about 2 hours of playing with it and attempting countless singles I really like this thing, really nice for negatives. I just wonder how much carryover to regular grippers, very similar motion.
Revtor
The carry over is close, but not exact.. so your gains will translate but not at the same rate. The super gripper is very versatile and it is good for negatives and to travel with, but if your goal is grippers then you have to train grippers. Another way to consider training with it is to use it to get your base strength up and then use your target gripper (2, 3, etc..) to do negatives, choker closes, etc... until you get it. Definitely keep it. A tip for all ISG users out there.. take a sharpie or paint marker and number the notches for the springs. I marked only the even #'s (the paint marker is pretty fat) Then, mark along the top of the thing the numbers correspoding to the jumps that you think you want to work on. So as an example, on mine along the top I wrote these increments (dont laugh tough guys..) 49 68 59 410 69 510 79 610 511 710 Now I always know the next closest jump from a moderate squeeze up onto way over my level, and I dont have to worry about keeping the chart handy.. It makes it an even more self contained grip machine IMHO to have these reference marks permanently marked on there.. crush the hell out of it for a few months and then get yourself some grippers.. ~Steve
Steve B.
It's a nice addition to a grippers collection of toys.I just recently bought two more springs for mine now it's a real tough squeeze.Cheap at only three bucks a spring. austinslater
I really believe everyone should have one. Great for the sweep. Ive talked to a few guys who trained with one awhile before the grippers and all of them could close a #2 and were close on a #3. COuld be a coincidence but I think it definetly played a role in thier success. Great for someone training for no sets or credit card sets as it hits the 2 big fingers hard. foggymountainmuscle
Somebody has a link to the ISG poundage calculator on their signature. If you are interested in poundages and your level, check it out. Hopefully the man in question will post here to reveal himself or somebody will tell who he is. Somebody will probably jump into say the numbers on grippers don't mean anything, but at least you know how much more weight it is than the other setting, it's as good as pounds and kilos. tarudriller
Here's a link to a SG settings chart (2 springs only): http://www.taralane.com/strength/grippers/...vankochart.html Chris
BarBender
I am the guilty party who wrote the ISG calculators. The calcs are still free. Enjoy.
Thaibox
Keep it. Good toy to add to everything else.
deaner
Ive used it a couple times now and definately like it, but finding the time in my training to squeeze it in is tough. One day a week Im gonna use it for 5 sets of 5 to try to beef up my guns, but stick to the standard grippers in my pursute of the #3 no set close. raziel
Haha, I just put mine in a box on its way to California . It's a good tool, many levels of resistance. I just felt I wasn't using it that much (as compared to grippers) and I figured someone else could give it a go.
deaner
Yeah I figure I'll be trying to trade mine for something else in the near future. Grandmaster or something.
Davekline
The ISG is one of the best gripping tools available.
