VeGripper
Okay, not sure if this is normal, but I find that for pinch grip work that unlike most other lifts I seem to get stronger after I've done a ton of sets. Whereas I burn out quickly for most lifts after a few sets, sometimes I find that my pinch grip doesn't really start to kick in until I've blasted myself with a ton of sets. For example, my first few pulls with the 37.5 lb. blob were pretty weak even when my hands were well rested, but 30 minutes later and numerous pulls down the line I managed to accomplish my goal of pulling this blob with only thumb, ring and pinky fingers. I couldn't even budge it in this way in the first 10 pulls I did, but around 20 deep it went up far easier than expected. Same goes for the Blob50 - couldn't budge it until around 12 pulls deep, then I moved it around a whopping 1/2" off the floor, which is around a half inch more than I'd managed in all previous attempts. I don't quite know why my pinch grip seems to defy the way all my other strengths usually go (including crushing grip), but I was wondering if anyone else experiences this as well! Bob Lipinski
You know what, I get much of the same thing. I think there are two reasons: 1. Hands seem to have more endurance and respond to more thorough warmup. 2. Pinch lifts (and blobs in particular) are very sensitive to specific hand placement, dryness, etc. Sometimes it takes me a while to get the right feel for them. The Mac
'Tis true what Bob says, especially about the 2nd point. For most of my pinch workouts (when i actually do them, he he) I tend to just grab and go, so sometimes it can take a while to get the plates and my hands to the required dryness. I would think that if I put more time into preparing the hands beforehand this would not be so much of a factor. Do you tend to just grip and rip or do you specifically prepare your hands? maidenfan
I've experienced this too. Especially with the blobette. Lift a max then add some shot. Kept going until I was way over the initial max lift. I find its somewhat true with the grippers, but much less endurance.
