rbrown
I'll be going to the Show of Strength in Atlanta this weekend to compete in the strongman contest. While there, I'll likely compete in the Rolling thunder Nationals and we will probably play with an Inch db that I'm supposed to be picking up from a friend while there. I figured I would announce the fact that I will be there because last time I was in Boston I just happened to run into some people from the gripboard and there were others that said they wished they would have known that I was going to be around. If you are going to be there, let me know and perhaps I'll see you there.
milkbone
The plan so far is that I will be there sometime Friday afternoon and Saturday. Friday, after the Rolling Thunder competition (I'm just a spectator), I'm supposed to meet up with Randy Strossen and make the #3 close official. John Hicks is going to the show as well and we are going to try to meet up Friday, Saturday, or both. I'm looking forward to meeting some people from the gripboard. danegarreau
Ryan, as you know i'll be there. I hope to just be able to roll the inch around on the ground. I just looked at IRonmind. There is going to be a gillingham grip gauntlet, so if anybody wants to try the blob or other stuff it will be available.
Sybersnott
I will be there! Unfortunetly, I won't be competing in the RT comp... I tried 180 today, and it was a miserable lift. I made the decision that if I couldn't do it today, I wasn't going to do the comp. There wasn't enough time for me to prepare/train for this. Anyhoo, I'll be a spectator for the comp and be there to see Steve crush that #3!! Oh boy, this weekend is gonna be a good one!!

Tom of Iowa2
I will be there! Unfortunetly, I won't be competing in the RT comp... I tried 180 today, and it was a miserable lift. I made the decision that if I couldn't do it today, I wasn't going to do the comp. Snott, Just a thought. You might? regret not competeing. A buddy of mine was down at the RT Nationals last year. Josh Competed. Jay competed..... but this other guy..... didn't. He regretted it later.....probably (probably? -could have?-would have?-should have?)got second in the amateurs. Cause the guy he CAN outlift in the gym?(Jay) got 3rd(i think?) ...or something. he kicked himself for actually being there....and not competing. Sometimes the lifts at these things aren't as good as you think they are gonna be. They all said the entire contest was "no big deal"..."casual" .."but fun".."a hoot"and only a couple of dickheads (which both Josh and Jay beat)that competed. THAT part was worth the trouble! Don't put too much pressure on yourself....but definitely...rethink doing it. Have fun whatever you do. jad
Snott, you should do it anyway. I'm the guy that got second in the amateur competition Tom was talking about and I lifted 20 more lbs in competition than in training. I get more amped for when it counts than I do in training and usually perform better, maybe you'll do the same. Good luck if you do
Tom of Iowa2
I didn't mean to assume he would have beaten you? But I KNOW he can beat Jay...who got third place. So? he would have at least got third place..or maybe?(could have?would have?Should have? maybe?)might have got second place. Mainly... he regretted his decision. Well you know what i mean...... Go for it Snott.
jad
No worries, I didn't take it that way and who knows he might have. I'm a very average RT lifter. The guy that got 1st was Wayne Ellerman (spelling??) and he blew up 190lbs, he could have gotten substantially more. I didn't really understand why he was in the amateur division though. When they announced him they said something like "The godfather of strongman...." IMO, if the announcers give you a special introduction, you're no amateur

Sybersnott
I hope to be there too. ← Hot damn! The one and only "Mr. Roark" will be there! Joe, I've wanted to meet you for the longest time! About the RT comp... is there an amateur division in this??... I didn't know that. I might rethink this after all. I'm afraid of making the opener and THEN not having anything left. And before this, I haven't trained on the RT in a long, long time! Oh, this is gonna be good!!! Hope to meet all of you guys there!
milkbone
This should definitely be a good time. I've never been to an expo like this so I'm looking forward to seeing what it's all about. Being able to see an Inch replica, and a 50 lb BLOB for that matter, will totally rock!
Roark
John, I may be there- awaiting some medical results before I know. (not my medical situation). Hope I can be there.
Sybersnott
Being able to see an Inch replica, and a 50 lb BLOB for that matter, will totally rock! ← milkbone, If you wanted to see a BLOB... why didn't you ask me?... I have one! As for me getting the INCH - well, Christmas is just around the corner....... Oh and the Expo will be unlike anything you've seen before. Hey, gimme a call when you can and let's talk about what the game plan is going to be.
milkbone
John, I'll give you a call this evening so we can figure out where to meet up at the GNC tomorrow. Randy is onboard for me doing the cert before or after the Rolling Thunder competition tomorrow. As for the BLOB, yeah, we need to get together after the GNC. I've got the garage gym set up and things are settling down quite a bit. I bought a BB Elite that I want you to try out also.
Sybersnott
Randy is onboard for me doing the cert before or after the Rolling Thunder competition tomorrow. ← Although I couldn't make it there today, milkbone just told me earlier this evening that he and Randy got together today and made it official!! So, congrats to milkbone (Steve) as the newest Captain Of Crush!!
