mobsterone
Thanks to all. I may need to polish it up a little and a friend of mine is working on proofing it but I just wanted to give you all a first look at what we ALL, in one form or another, had to go through to get to the platform. Espcially that weird feeling when it suddenly dawned on me, me who doesn't travel well, that I had flown 4000 miles to the US, for the very first time, just to lift!! Ahh it's in the blood. PS: as per another thread I do need photos if anyone has any - copies will do and the provider will be given credit in the magazine article. supersqueeze
Excellent!! It's nice to see how seriously you take these grip competitions. The bit about Tommy cramping in the straight jacket was hysterical. Thanks for posting the write-up. Mike M.
smitty
Great write up Mobs' -it was so cool that you made it over to this side of the pond for the competition! True...Steve...thank you for supporting us bro, it was not an easy task - coming all the way to the States to compete at our competition. - we are very grateful! mobsterone
You had to be there. I'm not sure if he WAS cramping up but I'm half asleep and yet still remember his hand - just the fingers mind - half out of the collar and he's struggling, sweating and struggling some more and he j-u-s-t can't reach the buckle. He WAS exhausted and I'm just standing there, as we all were, laughing until someone felt sorry enough to let him out. Poor Tommy. Lesson/Moral of the day - do not try to get out of a straight jacket unless you're on our mini van (both the Robs and dan did it) and after a lifting competition. mobsterone
Great write up Mobs' -it was so cool that you made it over to this side of the pond for the competition! True...Steve...thank you for supporting us bro, it was not an easy task - coming all the way to the States to compete at our competition. - we are very grateful! I enjoyed it - the competition - not the travelling: On the plane I get waken up by a steward (would be a geezer not a trolly dolly) 'excuse me do you have your belt on?'. Me 'uhh what, oh yeah'. Him 'it's just that I couldn't see it'. Me (now awake) 'that's cos it was under the blanket and it's bleeding freezing on 'ere'. Him 'perhaps if you'd put the belt on the outside?'. Me 'how would I get me frezing cold arms in then?' Grrr.
Dan Cenidoza
Very cool Steve! It may have taken you 30 seconds to shotgun those beers, but Monkey Paws and I were working at around 2-3 seconds. Oh, and BTW, I had to be let out of the strait jacket too.
mobsterone
Did you - oh man the shame of it he he. 2-3 seconds for the beers? Sod that.
Clay Edgin
Maybe I missed it, but I think you forgot to mention nearly throwing up after shotgunning your first one! As for Rob and Dan's shotgun speed, what can I say - they suck better than you, Steve!
mobsterone
I didn't nearly spew - it was cos I mostly inhaled the 2nd one and was coughing for England. I ended up coughjing most of the beer over Jedds deck (sorry Jedd). Most of it was still in my lungs!
BulletTooth
Steve, That was a great read! Both the training log and the contest report were excellent. Thanks for the report! I'll have to find a British <-> American translation dictionary to find out what some of those words mean. numpties? gormless? kips? a blinder? arguing the toss about it? Sunday lay-ins?
mobsterone
numpties? = idiots gormless? = brainless/stupid kips? = sleep/nap a blinder? = rather good arguing the toss about it? = arguing for the sake of it Sunday lay-ins? = having an extra hour or three on a Sunday in bed. supersqueeze
Good Lord!! Makes you wonder where some of these slangs come from or how they evolve! I had some of them totally wrong - even reading them in context. Mike M.
