sammyg
Hello. I am 1cm away from my #2, but on somedays i am a couple of mm away from fully closing my #1. i can get the #3 just past parallel. 1) Should i do my overcrushes with the trainer or #1? 2) Should i do my negatives with my #3 or #2? I feel that i'm short changing myself if i do overcrushes with the trainer. Same with the negatives on a #2. Cheers guys.

Vice
If you can't close the #1 consistently, you should probably overcrush with the trainer. And probably negatives with the #3, if you can almost close the #2 sometimes. This is very weird however... maybe you have a strong #1 and a weak #2? Or maybe somedays you are just weak from overtraining, or some other intangible?
EricMilfeld
It's also possible your sweep is much stronger than your final crushdown.
jad
I'd say you've got a hard#1, and an easy #2 and #3 or your just overtraining. Maybe sometimes when you can't close the #1 your just not recovered. I'd overcrush with the #1 if you're closing it with authority that day. If you're having an off day then drop down to the trainer or just take the day off if you feel overtrained. As far as your negatives I'd do them with the #2. If it's easy to hold shut then buy a Beefbuilder Supermaster if you can't hold it(#2) shut you've got the right gripper. I don't think you'll do yourself much good performing negatives with a gripper you can barely get past parallel, unless your close is just phenomenal, I think it will blow right open and you'll just get good at holding it a little past parallel. Just my opinion, I'm sure others might disagree. Hope it helps.

Let's go back to the beginning: conquer ONE gripper first before going on to the next. You have three grippers and you can't shut any of them. We will start with your #1. Timed holds with it, and do some negatives with your #2. Cheat shut your #2 if you have to and suck up the pain. Remember, pain is good! Put your Trainer and #3 away for now. If you want to use your Trainer, do it as a warm-up and then only for a few light reps. LET'S GET YOU SHUTTING THE #1 WITH CONSISTANCY BEFORE MOVING ON.
