Guest
Made a Inch dumbbell today using 24" of 1.5" ID (about 1.9" OD) plumbing pipe and 4 inches of 2" ID (2 3/8 OD) PVC pipe as the grip. Wrapped some duct tape around the pipe to increase the diameter and glued the handle centered on the pipe. Only have 95 lbs of plates for this so have to wait till Monday to really load it up but this setup seems to work well.
Guest Kit Old Dude Sonesen
I built one last week following the same general guidelines. Mine is made from a very short length of 2" OD seamless thick wall tubing and brought up to thickness via the 2" ID PVC and tape method. Here's what it looks like with 120 lbs on it... As soon as I can find a longer length of 2" stock, I will make a bigger training 'bell.
