Guest scotte
Dear all I have starting to practice strap holds with a shoe lace attched to a weight and am finding it REALLY difficult to get the 'lace between the handles at the start of the lift. Can any one offer any advice and tips?
Guest InchDisciple
That's easy use a very small rubber band , and use it to hold the lace in place prior to closing the gripper .
Bill Piche
My opinion is that you haven't mastered that particular gripper to enable you to use it for strap holds in the first place. A straphold where someone has to place the strap between the handles for you or using a rubber band is not a proper strap hold in my opinion. Strong opinion, yes. Just my opinion. This is analogous to a lifter using a monolift for the squat where the lifter doesn't have to walkout and set up before a squat attempt. Squats done this way in competition are not the same. bseedot
The nylon strap that I use is probably not as limp as a shoelace. Perhaps a very small amount of starch would help stiffen the lace a bit. BC.
Bearcat 74
I've tore athletic tape into very thin pieces and attached it to the grippers. This will hold the strap, and it will also not support any weight. this way when the pressure is no longer great enough to hold the strap falls.
