Tom,

Great Idea!

I am with you on the second of your two gripper ideas.  In fact, when I drilled the handles of my #3 to accept steel rods, (to facilitate closing it all the way for proper hand placement prior to doing negatives) a similar thought occured to me.

So I cut a second set of rods.  I tried to cut them so the initial "feel" was about a #1.75 COC.  Once I established the initial length, I then just taped over the rods until they were approx the same size as the gripper handles. Basically, I just hack saw off a 1/16" when I can make the ends touch.  It aint pretty, and it lacks a certain precision that us Type-A's would like, but it is working, and the price is right.

Pre-threaded handles with manufactored additional end pieces would be a great idea.

Semper Fi.

I also like the idea of the second gripper design.  It doesn't seem too hard to manufacture.  The only problem would be for people with big hands.  If the handle is shorter, it won't fit in their hand!

I hope PDA considers your ideas.

Tom,

Well done on your bending this week, also on the

gripper designs.I got a good deal on some HR 1/2"Bar

and have bent a 28" piece into a U around my neck.

Also managed to bend 5.5" by 1/4" HRS on Monday

and put the tiniest dent in a piece 5 inches, had to give

up on this because i hurt my hand/forearm on the

5.5" bend. Good luck with the Gripper Designs.

 Woody.
