Question for steelbenders, strongmen, martial artists

I was watching a martial arts demonstration on TV. It was mostly board- breaking and the like, but one guy took a wooden baseball bat and, holding each end in his hands, broke it over his thigh.

It wasn't a concussive break, but a steady application of force, like a steel bend. I was just wondering at the amount of force required to do that, and how it would compare to bending a length of steel over one's thigh.

Has anyone done this? What is the Ooooh, aaaah factor?

I don't know how much force is required but I've seen the guys from the "Power Team" do it lots of times.  I think I could do it, having trained around them and seen how strong they are.  I admit to never having done it, but its more a function of bodyweight then strength.  If you watch them do the stunt, you'll see them testing it in several different directions, rolling it on their thigh until the find the weakest "bend resistance".  Then they just lay their bodyweight onto their hands and use it to break the bat.  It looks very impressive, but I'm certain it isn't nearly as hard as something like ripping a deck of cards in half, the handcuff break, etc.  I guess I'll have to go buy a bat now .... :)
