Guest Luke Reimer
Does anyone know how thick the handle of the Rolling Thunder is supposed to be? (I lost me IronMind catelogue) Does anyone practice with special diameters?
Guest Dr Tom
I just looked up the RT in the '99-00 IronMind catalog and no diameter is given. Guess the best thing to do is to write Randy Strossen and ask. Their email is sales@ironmind.com Let us know what the answer is!

Guest 74-1005097204
2 3/8 inches.
Guest Luke Reimer
Thanks, guys. That puts things in perspective. I've tried only a homemade version with a 2 inch handle, and I thought THAT was hard. As far as competition goes, are there any rules for this lift regarding use of the wrist? Seems to me if someone had strong enough wrists he might take some of the load of his fingertips (or then again maybe not).
Guest reid73
I just recieved my rolling thunder last week, and I must tell you its not the size of the handle that makes it so hard though it helps, but the darn thing wants to keep spinning(rolling)out of your hand. The first day I warmed up with 25lbs then did 25lb jumps to 100lbs ,I started to really feel it at 100lbs but it was still easy enough,so I decided to jump right to 150lb and that was a mistake the size of the handle plus the revolving motion makes it a very difficult movement the weight may have something to do with it also lol I can only pull 260 with an overhand grip on the applons axle(thats with 2 hands btw)Tommorow Im going to make some more intelligent weight choices and maybe do them as timed holds maybe 5 sets of 1 X8-10 second holds.
