chrisof4
What you are doing with the block weights is amazing!! I made my first set of block weights today (25lbs) and could only deadlift them once. I have a significantly greater level of respect for your block weight workouts now! Your bending is also amazing. You are making great progress! Keep up the great work. Chris

Guest gripmaster316
Macronan, would you consider your left and right hand to be about equal in crushing strength?

ianders1
Blockweights50 5 negatives each hand Forgive me for asking - but how do you do negatives with block weights? Do you pick it up with both hands, then let go with one or something?
Sean Dockery
Ian, No need to apologize for asking...that's what we're here for. I do block weight negatives by grabbing the weight as tho I would lift it normally. Then I sort of scoop my off hand under the weight and lift. Once I've got the weight to the height I want I remove my off hand and attempt to control the descent of the weight. Block weights (a poor workout today) 47.5 couldn't get it above my knee to save my life. 5 atttempts each hand 50 5 negatives each hand 30 14 passes, 23 passes, 21 passes (time for the 35) Levering 4lbs sledge
ianders1
Thanks for the tip - I'll have to try that next time I do block weights. I really have learned a lot from this board, and I appreciate everyone's advice
Sean Dockery
Ok, missed last nights workout. Had an automotive crisis. Back in the saddle this morning. Block weights 47.5 6 attempts each hand got above knees twice with each hand 50 5 negatives each hand 40 3 sets of hold/attempt til absolute failure 30 Farmer's Walk with 2 30's 3 walks of 50 feet (need to make a second 35, too easy) Levering 10 lbs sledge Extensor work in bucket of sand 3 sets of 50 with each hand
Jonathan McMillan
I'm very impressed with the farmer's with the block weights, I'll have to give that one a try when the weather warms up here. When you try your negatives next time see if you can lift your 50 just with assistance with your free hand on the side of the block. At the rate you are progressing with them I bet you would only need a finger touch to get the thing up Jon@han
Sean Dockery
Thanks Jon! I'll try an assisted lift next workout.

Sean Dockery
Bent my first 60d last night. Warmed up with a couple timber ties. Wrapped the 60d, Got set, and S T R A I N E D. Kinked it just a little. Switched hands set myself, S T R A I N E D. A bit more kink. Moved to the chest crush and pushed, pushed, pushed. Finally, after about 5 minutes I got it down to a full U. That was FUN! My wife was all giggly and excited when she saw it. Says she's gonna frame it.

strongmitts
Macronan, congrats on your first 60D bend! Awesome blob lifts as well! I assume you got the nails? Did you get all three boxes?
Rick Walker
Nice farmers with the Blobs. Now where the heck did you learn that from??? Here is another trick: Grab a blob-hoist it-and clean it to your shoulder. Then-squeeze really hard and flip your arm and hand down-then lower to the ground. Repeat. The motion from the blob being up to the blob being down really kicks your ass! Great strength builder even with a light blob. Sean Dockery
Bending warmed up with some 3/16 and 1/4 stock. Then bent 1 60d. Took about 10 minutes.
