Sean Dockery
Well, manual labor got to me! I spent a couple hours yesterday doing some landscaping around the house, and then an hour cutting blobs. Even with the mittens, my hands couldn't get recovered. So weights were down today. (elaborate shrug) I still trained tho'! Grippers: warmed up with trainer and #1. Then did 6 singles on the #2 with each hand. (tried a straphold with the right to start the workout and had trouble closing it. so I scrapped the gripper plan for the day.) Block weights: warmup with 30 and 35 holds with 40 5/dl, 10/5, 5/dl, 5/dl, dl/dl, then just kept breaking it off the floor til I couldn't. Levering: 3 sets with 10lbs sledge
Sean Dockery
Skipped grippers last night. This morning had trouble closing the #2. So I just kept picking it up and trying to close it. must of done 10 attempts before I got it. Then I picked up my 30lbs blob and made laps around my body. got 16 laps the first time, then 9, then 10. Levering as usual.
Sean Dockery
Been out of town since Thursday night. Took grippers and two block weights with me. Forgot to take my journal so I've no records of reps or holds. But I've been concentrating on overcrushes with the #2 and lifting the block weights. I got my 43lb York to full deadlift several times with each hand. I even managed some decent holds. So I'm making a 45 tonight. At this rate I'll be lifting the Blob in no time. austinslater
awesome job! it wont be long for the blob to fall. Keep up with the log, Austin
Jonathan McMillan
Great log!! Looks like you have some good momentum going I agree with Austin I think that blob is going to be seeing some air time soon!!! Jon@han
Sean Dockery
Thanks guys! Grippers, Nothing exciting to report overcrushes with #2 and negatives with #3. I'm getting some grippers from Austin soon and will hopefully be able to see some progression. I haven't seen any progress on my 3 which makes it difficult to stay motivated. Oh well. It will fall! Block weights: Made the 45 and broke it off the floor a few times. Got it to full deadlift once with right hand. Attempted the 47.5 a couple times, and I swear the thing was just about to go airborne.....but not tonight.
Sean Dockery
I'm at the in-laws for the next few days. Only brought the grippers. Yesterday did same workout three times: warmup with T and #1 3 ten second overcrushes with #
Sean Dockery
Did the above gripper work thrice again yesterday (Christ's Mass). I've got a conference for the next five days and am debating taking the block weights with me. I very much want to bring them. I've made great progress recently with them and don't want to go stale. I'll update when I return.
Sean Dockery
Back in town from Conference. Which was lots of fun. I kept up the AM/PM grip workouts. Nothing really special to report on the grippers, I did try repping the #2 and got 5 with either hand. And was able to hold my #3 closer to closed than ever before. The 45 blob is a consistent full deadlift with my right hand, and I've been able to get one or two good 5 second holds with it every workout. I'm still trying to get a full deadlift with it in my left hand. Meanwhile I'm slowly working my way down the handle of my 10lbs sledge. I'm hoping to deadlift the Blob by the Arnold Expo. Does anyone know if GNC will be doing the cash prize again? It would be great to deadlift it fully for the first time there.
Sean Dockery
Today's training: AM Grippers Right: TX5, #1X5, 3 overcrushes with #2, 3 ring and pinky closes with Trainer Lefty: Tx5, #1X5, 3 overcrushes with #2, 3 near misses on the ring and pinky close with the Trainer Block weights Righty: warmed up with 30 got 45 to knee height, then went after 47.5 Knee height, then nearly full deadlift, nearly full deadlift, knee height, barely off floor, called it quits Lefty: warmed up with 30, full deadlift of 45, 47.5 broke off floor 3 times, back to 45 got it to knee height, called it quits Levering warmed up with 4lbs sledge, then three work sets with 10lbs sledge. PM Grippers Both hands: 10 singles with #2, did them cold. just picked up the gripper and snapped it shut. Either I've an easy #2 or a monster of a #3. I'm still over an inch away from my #3 Block weights Right: warmed up on 30, 45 to knee height, 47.5 broke off floor 4 times Left: warmed up on 30, 45 to knee height, 47.5 to knee height 3 times, then barely of floor Levering same old same old. I need to mark inch increments on the handle to better notate my progress. Edited January 4, 2004 by macronan

HAMMERHEAD
Keep kickin' ass! Do you have anything between the #2 and #3? I really like my SM! It's way harder than a #2. -HH
Sean Dockery
Austin is sending me a couple of tweener grippers. Until they arrive I've only got the 5 that I bought from IM 3 years ago. I'm looking forward to trying them and see where I'm at. AM Grippers warmedup then 3 explosive closes with #2 and 3 negatives with #3 for each hand Block weights Righty: warmed up then attempted 47.5; broke off floor, almost to knee, broke off floor, broke off floor Lefty: warmed up then 47.5; broke off floor, above knees, knee height, knee height Levering: warmed up with 4lbs then did 3 sets with 10lbs
Sean Dockery
Ok last two days grip work has stunk, and I think I figured out why. My basement is really cold....so my hands aren't getting warm. basically I couldn't even break my 45 off the floor the last three workouts. I'm gonna do an experiment tomorrow soaking my hands before the workout. I'll let everyone know how it goes. I was a little worried that I was psyching myself out of the Blob lift. Goin' backwards and all....
Sean Dockery
What a difference a warmup makes!!!!! Well, not quite that much difference, but I did much better this morning. Soaked hands for 5 minutes in hot water Grippers: warmed up with T and #1 Righty: #2 close, then 3 no set attempts at my #3, then 2 sets of three reps no set with #2. I let the gripper open all the way between reps Lefty: same as right except only got 2 and 1 good reps in the last 2 sets with #2. Soaked hands again, for 2 minutes Block weights: picked up 30 a couple times then Righty: 45 to belt, to belt, 47.5 broke off floor, 45 to knee Lefty: 45 to belt, to knee, 47.5 no go, 45 broke off floor Levering: 3 sets. Each set is 5 reps of side to side levering. Followed by 1 hold in front and one hold to the rear. I'm going to get some 10+ second holds with the 45 be fore I attempt the 47.5 again. I like soaking my hands like this. Feel much better about my progress today.
Sean Dockery
While doing my 10 singles with #2, I suddenly felt as if I was going to throw up. tried to push through it. But did vomit.
