You Guys Were Right...

I just finished my first REAL grip workout, and damn - the block weights are awesome! I was able to do about 15 clean and jerks with the 25lb blob. I only did one hand at a time, so next time I'll have to try both. And maybe get some chalk - although my grip never slipped. They're still pretty heavy and it'll probably be a while before I do any tossin'

I did the sledge work with an 8lber about 12' from the head, and did some tossin' with it, which was cool. Tried some finger walks with it and did some 20lb (2x10lb plates) wrist curls.

I can't seem to close my COC #1, though - I've got about an inch left in each hand, but I know it won't be long.

As for the RSI - my left wrist gave me some pain and I couldn't finish with the wrist roller as planned, but I didn't really have any pain - which is pretty nuts - but awesome!

Thank you to everyone who's helped me so far

I know I've only just begun, but I already see how addictive it can be :D

Also, the dexterity balls are a pain in the butt - a lot harder than I expected!

You will probably improve rapidly on the dexterity balls once you get used to the movements.

Get chalk. It makes unlift able block weights almost easy. IronMind sells about 2 years worth for about 10 bucks. Well worth it.

Looks like a good workout. I wish I'd known about block weights when I first started. I'd probably be alot stronger now. Keep it up!

UPDATE:

After a little over 2 weeks and 3 grip workouts (one with proper tools) - I've got a New PR - Deadlift 405 X 6, no chalk, straps, etc.

I went from barely holding onto 365 to having much more grip strength than I needed. I was only limited by my form! If anything my grip felt REALLY powerful!

Best of all I got to follow two really cool "tough" guys (with torn sleeves and barbed wire tats no less) ;) who had maxed out at 200!

Thanks again for all the help :bow

D'OH! They should be stripped of their tattoos for such a poor performance! I mean a 200 max? C'mon!

I forgot to mention their jeans, workboots, and 4" wide lifting belts. At least they weren't using straps

And yes, sadly it was 200 (2x45s, 2x25s, 2x5s, and 2x2.5s), not 225

I wish I could be just like them ;)
