hi guys, i am an oly style lifter,i swapped to powerlifting for a year but im back to oly again (i still bench though) and wanted to increase my grip strength, last week i started doing my deadlifts (stiffleg, rdl etc) with a 2" bar a couple times a week and if i do shrugs with a 1" bar i open my hands til the bars at the tips of my fingers and close it again for a few reps, and the other two sessions i do plate pinches, starting with a rubber oly 20kg plate, 2x10kg plates, 3x5kg plates per hand im not sure on how many sets/ time to hold them or even if this routine is any good so some advise would be wkd

Welcome trkyrky,

Just a quick tip. When I first started experimenting with plate pinches I used rubberized plates as they were the only ones they had at the gym I went to. I was quite dissapointed when I tried metal plates for the first time -big difference much harder to pinch.

Of course read all the back posts here and try out the exercises Brookfield wrote about in his books and posts on ironmind's site.

Those are good, and will increase your grip strength. Have fun with it. If you get focused and want to achieve a specific goal, then get specific. Mastery of Hand Strength by John Brookfield is excellent and will show you all aspects of grip.
