Guest Peter Solomou
Hello everyone, just registered with you guys today, i` usually post on another board, and i got a link to this page, looks just right. I`ve made considerable progress using farmers walk but now i`ve used the heaviest dumbells and wanted to try another grip exercise, i`m not keen on static holds anymore as they stress my back, any ideas. Guest MTGrip
Peter, If finances allow, I would invest in some grippers to work crushing strength. The Captain of Crush grippers are the gold standard in this field, as you will realise if you read through any page of messages on this board. They are also great fun to train with ! You could add to this some pinch gripping work, with either plates or blocks, or possibly some wrist roller work. If you're not sure how to do any of these exercises, have a look through some old threads. The farmer's walk is a great grip exercise, and is highly rated by many. The above exercises, however, should not stress your back if you are having problems with it, (might feel it in the hands a bit though Good luck with your training, Mike Taylor
Guest Dr Tom
Welcome, Peter. For a small investment, you can pick up that tome to the Grip - "Mastery of Hand Strength" by John Brookfield (Iron Mind). Loaded w/ all sorts of training ideas such as plate curls, lever bar work w/ sledge hammer (see Tom Black's home page), block toss, wadding up a sheet of newspaper one at a time, etc. Visit the Grip Page (see link above) for a number of routines and advice on making homemade equipment. You've come to the right place for the grip! Enjoy!
