The issues here with setting heavier grippers are why my clients all strength train , and the grippers come up as a result.

No butt cheeks needed, just a bit of overall body strength  ;)

I used to strength train but I was forced to quit due to health issues I know that the vast majority of people who can close big grippers are also crazy strong at the big 3 and that general strength training helps gripper progress tremendously but it is what it is.

Having strong buttcheeks might help though.

I only just noticed my gripper placement I can't believe I am used to this look at the dogleg LOL.

I knew I placed it far back but I didn't realise it was this far back in my hand.

This gripper is 77mm wide btw.

This is my TNS/NS setup.

This is also how I almost TNS closed my no.3.5.

Today's session: Torsion Spring Grippers

Warming up:

100 LBS

150 LBS

CoC no.3:

1 wide set attempt:

I AM SO CLOSE!!

1 No Set attempt:

I AM JUST AS CLOSE WITHOUT A SET!

CoC no.4:

1 wide set attempt:

Moved it pretty damn far

1 No Set attempt:

Moved it just as far as I did without a set setting CoC grippers is pointless for me so I won't be doing it again.

300 LBS unrated gripper (narrow 65mm spread)

1 attempt:

Missed it by like 2mm but this means that I got stronger because I wasn't even able to close it while fresh a while back.

I was only able to close this with a narrower set.

I am finally getting used to torsion spring grippers it "only" took like 3 months lol.

Vulcan V2 Orange Spring:

These are technically wide sets but I only set it a tiny distance so that I can get my pinky on this means that the distance between the handles is at least a no set for CoC grippers if not wider.

9-9: 1 attempt

BOOOOOOM CLOSEDDDDDDD

10-10: 1 attempt

Missed it by a hair

8-8: 1 close

Recovery:

100 LB gripper:

3x failure

Extensor "bucket":

3x failure

Wannagrip made me realise that I am still a novice when it comes to torsion spring grippers so from now on I am going to start treating myself that way.

I will no longer be doing heavy attempts but instead I will be focusing on closes I should be able to no set my 65mm 300 LBS unrated gripper now so I am going to start with that next week.

After closing the 300 LBS narrow gripper I will go to no.3 and then the 3.5 etc.

My Ivanko does carry over to the sweep of torsion spring grippers so does the Vulcan with the CROM spring.

The Orange Spring feels exactly like a torsion spring gripper so that spring can carry me to at least a no.3 close maybe even a 3.5.

I don't feel like wasting my time on heavy attempts anymore I have already wasted over a years worth of progress on the Ivanko I don't want to waste even more time doing attempts on torsion spring grippers.

Highest level on Vulcan V.2 with orange spring should be about equal to a very hard #3. But it will be harder to set than a #3.5.

Thanks for letting me know!

Then I should be able to get certified on the no.3 once I am able to close it because I use a stupidly wide set.

Also my CoC no.3 is 81mm wide so as soon as I can close my no.3 as a one rep max and close the highest setting on the orange spring afterwards I should be good to go.

I just measured the set width of my Vulcan V2 "ultra wide set" and it's 80mm.

Today's session: Grippers

Ivanko Super Gripper:

Warming up:

(1,3)-(1,5)-(1,7)-(1,8)-(1,9)-(1,10)

No Set one rep max overcrush:

(9,11) 160 LBS RGC

MISSED IT BY A HAIR I DID HEAR MULTIPLE CLICKS BUT I COULDN'T GET ALL PARTS TO TOUCH NOOOOOOO.

(7,9) 113 LBS RGC:

3 triples

GOT ALL 3 PR WOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Vulcan V2 CROM spring:

2-3 (level 10)

1 no set close

BOOOOOOOOOOM CLOSEDDDDDDDDD

I have to stop doing these because the gripper rotates in my hand while closing it this is going to cause joint issues in the long run which means that I will also start doing ultra wide sets with this spring from now on.

1 ultra wide set:(~80mm)

BOOOOOOOOM SUPER EASY CLOSE LIKE IT WAS NOTHING.

Recovery:

100 LB Gripper:

3x failure

Extensor "bucket":

3x failure

I forgot to mention this but as some of you guys have noticed I have gone back to doing triples on the Ivanko.

This was my very first routine back when I first got the Ivanko.

I came up with this routine myself.

For some odd reason singles don't work that well for me on the Ivanko.

Triples feel great and I instantly feel stronger after doing them and I am also less fatigued.

I might even experiment with triples on the Vulcan or torsion spring grippers down the road.

Today's session: Grippers

Warming up:

100 LBS

150 LBS

CoC no.3:

1 wide set attempt

Well apparently I can set now thanks to the Vulcan!

I am a few mm away I am closer than ever!

Vulcan V2 orange spring:

10-11: 1 attempt

I got pretty close

10-10:

1 attempt got pretty close as well.

7-7:

3 triples got all 3!!

Triples just feel so much better I am done doing singles they simply don't work for me from now on I am just going to do my old routine on everything.

I might even experiment with higher reps in the future but for now I am sticking with triples.

Today's session: Grippers

Ivanko Super Gripper:

Warming up:

(1,3)-(1,5)-(1,7)-(1,8)-(1,9)-(1,10)

One rep max:

(9,11) 160 LBS RGC

I just can't get the overcrush a "competition close" is super easy which is basically the range of motion of a normal gripper but the overcrush feels impossible.

The Ivanko was my very first gripper I am done with it I feel like I have already closed the highest setting and I simply don't feel like getting frustrated.

Chasing this overcrush is only going to make me weaker in the long run.

Vulcan V2 CROM spring:

4-3(level 14):

3 wide set closes

HOLY F I can actually set this thing now!!!!

I also got 3 wide set closes when I first got this spring level 15 was my max!

This day will be CROM spring day from now on.

This spring is going to make my sweep even stronger and it is also going to make my set retarded strong.

Recovery:

100 LBS gripper:

3x failure

Extensor "bucket":

Today's session:Grippers

Warming up:

100 LBS

150 LBS

CoC no.3:

6 wide set attempts:

These were all very close

Vulcan V2:

Orange Spring:

10-10: 2 attempts

10-11 1 negative

I messed around with different sets and setups this session trying to figure out what works best for me.

My own setup is my strongest setup, sets narrower than ccs feel terrible and just aren't for me.

Attempts usually don't work for me but since I can almost close my CoC no.3 I think this will work.

I am going to stick with very close wide set attempts and negatives.

My sweep is already crazy strong because of the Ivanko and both my sweep and set will continue to get stronger because of the Vulcan V2 CROM Spring.

Now that I have accepted that I am still a beginner when it comes to torsion spring grippers my training is going much better.

I hope so man I am really struggling with the last cm which is the hardest part of the close.

I hope my adjustable grippers can help me reach that goal because I am done with doing negatives I nearly got injured yesterday so I will quit now before it's too late.

There are folks who benefit from negatives and all props to them but i think alot of the heavy hitters here would say that negatives are the least worth it in terms of risk/reward ratio
