Hello @DevilErik

What do you think of the golden grip grippers?

Hey man I think they are decent.

They do get narrower over time though which sucks.

The knurling on them is almost smooth but I don't really mind since I was already used to smooth handled grippers anyway.

I personally would not buy them again I'd rather pay more money for an adjustable, CoCs or GHPs next time.

I paid 65 euros for 5 grippers so I can't really complain.

You also get lifetime warranty which is pretty rare nowadays.

I could send them back and get new ones or get mine fixed but they will end up narrow again anyway and I have already closed the 300 LBS one with a set slightly narrower than CCS so I am good.

Today's session:

Pinch+Thickbar

My ramp up sets have been pretty sh*tty so far.

I am very new to this whole 1 RM thing.

I was looking on the internet for some guidance on ramping up to a max and came across this percentage based thing on t nation.

I think this is going to work much better for me than my previous method.

60mm pinch block 1 HP:

11,25×8

16,25x5

18,75x3

22,50x1

25x1

60mm rolling handle:

I don't have enough weight so I just used my previous method.

10 kg

15 kg

20 kg

40 kg

Recovery:

Golden grip 100 lbs gripper:

3x failure

Extensor "bucket":

3x failure

My tendons are finally used to the additional stress.

At first my finger tendons were pretty sore after training and I kept getting forearm cramps.

Now I don't really feel anything anymore  after my training which means I can actually start pushing myself now when it comes to 1 HP.

I am glad I listened to the people telling me to take it slow at first a big thank you to you guys.

I normally go balls to the wall which probably would have been disastrous in this case so thanks again.

Thats great news about your hands.

Do me a favor and go extra heavy for me this next week or two. I'm getting  corrective eye surgery on Friday...No work or working out for 1-2 weeks. Going to be bored out of my mind.

Probably will have to avoid chalk for a few weeks as well, for the dust in my eyes.

Will do man hopefully the surgery will go very well and you will be recovered in no time!

1-2 weeks is doable I guess but it still sucks.

Grip work without chalk is going to be fun!

Thank you... I just have a hard time sitting still.  I have developed a tiny bit of elbow tendonitis, so its a good chance to let it clear up.  I'll still walk and do some stretching and maybe squeeze the iron mind egg an do some extensor stuff, after a few days buts it. Then I'll have to go light on everything for a couple more weeks. But it will be worth it.

Do the sand bucket thing man ever since I have been doing it my recovery has gone through the roof all my soreness just goes away after some extensor sets in the sand.

I do 3 sets to failure with a light gripper and 3 sets in the sand and I never get tendonitis. *knocks on wood*

Dynamic keypinch, dynamic pinch and extensor bands however all give me MAD tendonitis.

I am going to train for a miller lever with this hammer.

If I am not mistaken a miller lever with a 13 lbs sledge is world class.

Awesome you will achieve that ultra world class feat! The Miller lever is named after Robert Miller - IMO, the 1-2 best to ever do FRONT sledgehammer deadlifts along with David Wigren.

I am going for it!

I didn't know that,that is pretty cool!

I have heard of David Wigren before I believe he is also an absolute MONSTER when it comes to bending.

Speaking of bending reverse bending is something I would like to try but I don't know how dangerous bending is I really don't want to get injured.

However, that is something for the future first I need to get more plates then I am going to build a base on both thickbar and pinch and then I might give bending a try.

Some people may argue with me on this point of view, But especially as a natural guy, Bending and grippers are sort of a "one or the other" kind of thing, If you do grippers it'll tax your wrists for DO or DU bending, And if you do bending, Your gripper game will be absolutely roasted

I am only interested in reverse bending and I would only do it once a week.

He is all-timer no question. You will do well at Reverse once you get the wrap and technique down. I tried bending for 5 sessions but never could figure out how to wrap properly- disconcerting to have wraps coming off mid bend and gave away all my steel, wraps etc and now it resides in Mumbai, India(friend moved there). I do respect the heck out of guys who bend large and can still do heavy grippers- I could not do it.

I am going to get a wrist developer in the near future that way my tendons can adapt to reverse bending and I could also see whether or not it is too much to recover from.

If I can't handle it I could always use the wrist developer for wrist training.

We'll see in the future I am still young.

Wraps coming off mid bend must've been pretty scary as well.

I'm new to both, but I think doing bending and grippers regularly is manageable if you're not preparing for a cert/competition, etc.

I tried reverse bending a few times, and although I like it, it affects gripper training the most. At least for me. The pressure on the webbing and mpc joint is huge. I still plan to do it in the future maybe once per week, but I have a DU cert goal now, and after that the MM0 and GHP7.

For DO, you might have some elbow issues, but wrists and thumbs should be fine. Besides the skin tears and overall finger soreness, doing both twice per weak is probably ok. But I only tried this once and my elbows hated it.

For DU (this is what I'm doing), elbows and thumbs are fine, but quite taxing on the wrists. But I kinda like this, and my ulnar deviation got strong fast. You definitely can't do both DU and grippers high frequency, but both once per week (or one of them twice, the other only once) should be okay for most people.

Being great at both at the same time ("great" I mean for one individual's own potential) is probably not feasible, but doing good and enjoying both sports is possible. Just my opinion.

I think I will just stick to grippers then thanks for chiming in!

BOOYAHHHHH I managed to fix my Ivanko!

There was something wrong with the handle that made it feel like it was "locked" because of this I was not able to get my hand into position.

I changed it back to the highest setting and started moving the handle from side to side at first the spring got caught above the notch but then I managed to get the spring into position.

I pushed the gripper into my hand and pretended like I was going to squeeze it with full force.

It feels normal now! This means I can start working on closing the highest setting!

I am pretty afraid changing spring positions is going to mess it up again so I am going to warm up with my Vulcan.

I might already be able to close it but we'll see on Monday!
