Ole' Puller
304 & 303 SS Kink work: • Two 5/16 x 8 304 SS bars • Three 5/16 x 8 303SS bars • Single leathers "Another good bending session is in the books and the addition of 303 SS really moved things along. The difference between the 304 & 303 is night and day and I know for certain that the 303 is going to be tough from the sweep down to the final crush. These bars are what I need to work with! A little 5/16 hex and some drill rod and the steel for this training plan is complete, all there is to do is continue putting in the work."
Ole' Puller
5/16 x 8 304 SS crush down: • Four 5/16 x 8 304 SS bars • Single leathers & crush pads "Today's session was great. The 4 stainless steel bars were springy towards the final 2 hits and provided a good pump. I know for sure the 303 SS will be even more so and that's the type of training that's going to pay off!"

Ole' Puller
6061, 304, 303 and Hex/ Kink work: • Two 3/8 x 8 6061 aluminum bars (1~1/2 wraps) • Two 5/16 x 8 304 SS bars (Single leathers) • One 5/16 x 8 1018 Hex (Double wraps) • One 5/16 x 8~1/2 303 SS (Double wraps) "After 2 good warm ups with the 6061 bars, I moved on to the 304ss in single leathers and threw on the double wraps for both the 303ss and the hex bar which was very hard and I'll certainly have to spend more time with this steel. I gave the bar an honest wobble but that's it! I've bent lots of square but this is my first time training with hex unbraced. Overall this was a good session and the bends felt good!

That hex was hard .. very hard! I'm going to have to work with it in small movements. As long as I can get some movement out of it, that'll be cool for now. I don't want to spend an entire session fighting it because it'll take away from the main objective for that session, but I'll definitely put them to good use.
Ole' Puller
304 SS Sweep: • Four 5/16 x 8 304 SS • Single leathers "Today's bars swept nicely and I'm particularly pleased with my technique as well. Aside from getting stronger, I want to bend with proper technique and body alignment to maximize results. In reviewing my videos I'm pleased with the elbow, shoulder and forearm alignment and how high up on the throat I'm keeping the bar throughout the bend. Great session!"
Ole' Puller
Monday Kink Down/ 304 & 303 SS: • Three 5/16 x 8 304 SS bars (Single leathers) • 5/16 x 8 303 SS (Double wraps) • 5/16 x 7.75 303 SS (Double wraps) "I got in some good double overhand kink work today. The hits felt good and I kept things fresh by throwing in a 5/16 x 7.75 303 SS which increased the training intensity just enough to keep things reasonably difficult.

Ole' Puller
• 5/16 x 8 304 SS • Single leathers and IMP's "For this week's kink work I included a completed bend from the kink position on one of the 304 SS bars from previous sessions. I find that 5 or 6 bends of 304 & 303 training stock is is adequate volume, but to help increase intensity I'll finish off one of the previously kinked bars during my kink training in either IMP's or benders battlefield wraps. At my current age, higher volume doesn't work for me so I'll make the adjustment and keep pressing forward."
Ole' Puller
304 & 303 SS Sweep: • 304 SS (Single leathers) • 303 SS (One & a half wraps) "Just completed a pretty decent session with the steel. I've been nursing a bit of soreness in both the right front delts and right elbow (old injuries) but it was tolerable enough to keep pressing forward. For the 303SS I used one & a half wraps which helped alleviate some of the force applied to the shoulder and elbow region. Overall it was a nice session!"
Ole' Puller
Double overhand SS: • 304 SS Single wraps • 303 SS Double wraps "Here are 2 completed bends that felt really good. I'm very grateful for the benefits of working with SS over the last two months. I'll keep the Monday sessions to 2 - 3 good bends and on Thursday I'll do a moderate amount of volume work on bars that I had previously kinked and swept. The training feels good and the steel is going down well!"
Ole' Puller
Single wrap bends/ 304 SS: • Single IMP's • 304 SS "More of my training at this stage of the program is aimed at completed bends and finishing off kinked bars from previous sessions. Again, my goal bend is the Tall Duke in doubles so it's important for me to devote more time to completing bends in minimal wraps with tough steel. Eventually all bends will be to completion and not in stages so I can put maximum energy into preparing for this bend. I'm going to get a hold of some tall duke's so I get a feel for it but for now I'm pleased with how things are going."
Ole' Puller
Here's a quick bend on an SX7 #2 that I just completed. First shoe in about 3 months since certifying and this felt great! After I'm done with my DO goal bend, I look forward to getting back to horseshoes. Next up for me is the SSP#3, in the meantime I'll throw in a HS bend here and there to get back into the groove."

I'm really grateful for the struggles of SS & DR but for this program it's solely SS! The original plan was to work with both but after a few sessions, I realized that the SS is ideal. DR is a fight from beginning to end and I love it but I honestly prefer the characteristics of the SS, especially the 303 for this goal bend. I'm going to get my hands on some tall dukes because it's time we start locking horns! Ole' Puller
Horseshoe bending practice "This is the second horseshoe bend this week. Pretty much just getting in a little practice while I focus on my current goal. Once I'm done, I'll be chasing a few shoes so I'll bend at least one per week just to stay in the groove."
Ole' Puller
Double overhand SS bends: • 304 SS (3bars) • 303SS (1bar) • Single wraps/ One & a half leathers + crush pads "Today's session was a bit tougher than expected but I got through it well and other than a particular tough bend on a length of 303, I'm quite grateful to have kept the steel moving until the final crush down!"
Ole' Puller
"Test runs" • 21/64 x 8 12L14 CRS • 11/32 x 8 12L14 CRS • Single and double wraps "In the next few weeks my emphasis will be on peaking towards the tall duke bend (11/32 x 8 1018 CRS) and today's test runs felt really super. With a few 5/16 303 SS bars left, the stainless steel has done all it can at this point so all bends moving forward will be at 21/64 & 11/32 diameters in 12L14 CRS. I'm getting very close!"
