That's very cool my friend. I too have decided to try and get back into #3 territory. The heaviest grippers I've closed was between 142 - 154lbs. I had problems with my joints and tendons in both hands and backed off, but I enjoy gripper training very much. I'm going to start a training log on the gripboard and it would be great if we keep track of each other's progress. I did one session last week and I'll be doing one tomorrow that I'll post. It's going to be nice digging up my old training routines and putting together a sensible training program. I plan on a once per week routine, probably on Saturdays.

I hope your hands feel healthy and 100 percent ready!

You're very welcome! and Absolutely! you know what i was just thinking would be interesting? if enough gripper enthusiasts got together and made up their own certification system that allows people with smaller hands to certify something like a CoC3 or GHP7 by using a deeper set start. i don't have small hands, but it seems like it would make sense for those with shorter hand length. what do you think personally? Edit: i almost forgot that Gripboard has it's own MMS certifications until reminded XD Edited February 21, 2022 by SkyHeart
Ole' Puller
Horseshoe bending/ From kink to crush: • 3 previously kinked Kerckhaert SX7's • Double wraps "Today's session was quite rewarding. I started a bit sluggish but gradually worked into a pretty good groove. I need work in the sweep to crush phase of a horseshoe bend so I kinked 3 SX7'S last week and finished them off just a few moments ago. The benefit of allowing them to work harden was very obvious because they were very tough to get going which is exactly what I'm looking for. The other factor is the proper finishing technique which I'm also working on. I'm steadily getting accustomed to the legendary "Milfeld Hop" and I definitely feel the difference as I practice it! As always, I'm very grateful!
Ole' Puller
Double wraps training/ Double overhand/ 19/64 O-1 drill rod: • Three 19/64 DR bars • Double wraps • Kink only "For today's training session I used stock that I would normally bend to completion in double wraps, however I like the gains I get from allowing them to harden over time so I focused only on the kink. On my single wrap days all bends will be to completion but I feel it's worthy to work my heavier stock in stages. I've noticed a pleasing increase in strength bending in singles when I train this way so I'll stick with that!"

Ole' Puller
A random bend/experiment of sorts. Though I completed a bending session yesterday, an order for 12L14 CRS from Online Metals arrived today and I wanted to get a feel. I've bent a few of these bars 2 years ago and I was in search of a good steel next to the 19/64 drill rod l use for double wraps volume training that I can kink and put down then finish off during future double wrap sessions. Honestly, this batch felt tougher than the last IM red that I bent about 2 months ago. I noticed some binding up right after the kink, almost like stainless steel but not as severe. The sweep was stiff and the final crush felt relatively normal. Ultimately it was a great feel, perfect for training and quite frankly as a certification bar as well. I absolutely compare it to the IM red or FBBC bastard bar, but not as brutal as the @chuckincanuck 1018 CRS Moose bar. This is a good piece of steel, give it a try!

Ole' Puller
Double overhand bending/ Just the kink: • 5/16 x 7 12L14 CRS • 19/64 O-1 drill rod • Double wraps "Today's session was all about getting the bar moving, aka THE KINK. Training this way has helped a lot with single wraps bending sessions so this is my go to system. I've got some mutant 5/16 stainless steel from Devin Hoover (@eatchalkgetbig) that I'll be adding to these sessions. I'm not able to bend this batch of stainless yet so I look forward to the upcoming challenges!"
Ole' Puller
The crush down: • 19/64 O-1 drill rod • 12L14 CRS "Hear are some bars that I kinked a week or so ago and today was the crush down portion of the bend. The 12L14 was definitely tougher and the drill rod was even tougher as expected. Overall it was a good volume session and as always I'm very grateful!
Ole' Puller
"Bending in every way" • 12L14 CRS 5/16 x 8 (Double overhand) • 19/64 x 7 O-1 drill rod (Double underhand) • 1/4 x 6 O-1 drill rod (Reverse grip) "Today session opens the doors to a bending schedule that should allow me to keep things relatively balanced. Out of the shoot I bent 4 12L14 CRS bars at 8 inches which was a first. I have to say that I enjoyed bending at this length and following my current alternating training system of kinking bars one week then bending to completion the week following, afterwards finishing off the kinked bars on week 3 followed by another week of completed bends, I feel like I've discovered a groove that will allow me to work both unbraced and braced bending (snapping too .. I miss steel snapping!) in a way that coincides with my work schedule and other types of functional strength training that I do. This is a good thing because I want to do it all but realistically, I CAN'T! Balance is needed and I believe I've found a point of balance ... Onward my brothers and sisters in iron!"

Ole' Puller
"I'm liking these bars" • Four 8 x 5/16 12L14 CRS bars • Three 8~3/8 x 5/16 12L14 CRS bars • Single leathers and IMP's "As the title says, I'm enjoying bending at these lengths. I'm quite happy with the groove and it feels very natural. I'll throw in some drill rod at these lengths to keep things fresh. A very rewarding session!"
Ole' Puller
"A few braced bends for the soul" • Two 5/16 x 12" bars taped together (12L14 CRS) • One 5/16 x 7 stainless steel (unusually tough batch from Devin Hoover!) "After yesterday's failed attempt at braced bending two 5/16 x 8" bars taped together, I needed a few braced bends for the soul. After filing down the sharp edges of two 12" CRS bars, I wrapped them up in a set of doubles and gave it a kink over the front of the knee and finished it off with the leg crush. It was bent badly off center but no complaints, I'll take it! The second braced bend was more out of curiosity than anything else. I have a batch of "mutant tough" stainless 5/16 bars that I can kink unbraced but unable to complete so I wanted to see how it felt brace bending one of these monstrosities using just the leg crush. I threw on a set of single leathers and went to work .. holy crap! Even using my legs these were tough to bend especially after the sweep where it became both increasingly stiff and bouncy in the most annoying of ways! You can feel it move but as soon as you stop applying pressure it bounces back considerably! Kudos to those who have bent this batch of SS unbraced! All in all it felt good to complete these two pleasing bends .. it's just what the soul needed!"
Ole' Puller
Horseshoe bending/ Previously kinked a week and a half ago and finished today: • 2 Kerckhaert standard lite#1's kinked a week and a half ago • 1.33" double wraps "Just finished up two horseshoe bends that I kinked about a week and a half ago. I'm enjoying the added benefits of the hardened worked steel and the emphasis on the crush down portion of a horseshoe bend. Both shoes were completed back to back without a pause and this is also a good thing because I wanted to get past the lactic acid build up in my triceps and shoulders so I'd kink 2 to 4 shoes and work on completing them one after the other in as quick a time as possible. Another big factor in training the crush down has been using my entire torso which takes some pressure off the tri's & delts as well. I'll need to place an order for some more shoes and along with a few goal HS bends I'm definitely going to research for a good shoe that I can use for volume without having to file down a tougher shoe which is what I'm doing now. A good training session indeed!"

Ole' Puller
"Horseshoe bending" • Diamond Classic#1 • 1.43" wraps "In sticking to the plan to bend shoes more frequently to work on the weak areas, here's a bend that I completed late last night. I planned on doing this bend today before work but I was feeling it so I threw on the wraps and had a go at it. The kink was predictable and I was able to quickly get to where the work is needed. During the crush down I used the hopping method which has been a saving grace for my shoulders. Once I got it to about 140° it froze up a bit and I had to make 4 attempts to gradually get it past 180° but I made it happen. While I would've liked to have completed this bend quickly, it was still quite satisfying because my crush down has been improving and with regular shoe bending I plan to improve significantly."
