Cool man I didn't realize you were from Ohio. That state is dumb strong lol. Growing up I kind of idolized alot of the freak show powerlifters that came from that state! Is it alot more humid in NC or similar to Ohio? I was thinking this could have an effect on grip.

I never used much accomadating resistance either because I was a raw lifter. I did have success using reverse bands on bench press and occasionally chains on deadlifts(seemed to help with speed). My mentor was a multi ply guy though so he swore by alot of those methods.

A lot warmer throughout the fall/winter months and definitely more humid. Still depends, some days the humidity helps other days it can ruin grip lifts.

thats a beautiful picture.

I've been trying to start BJJ, how do you balance grip with MMA?  If I enjoy it, i plan on rolling 2-3 times a week. Honestly, grip/bending for now takes precedence but I'm still interested in both. Tonight when I have more time i'll read your log, but I'm curious how you balance both.

New addition to the gym. Had two 75 York Blobs and got them welded to a 3” Handle. Looking forward to using this for rows, pressing, cleans, snatches, transfers etc. Should be fun mixing it into training.

Competed at the Empower House Grip Challenge 2022 in Cornelius, NC.
There was a great turnout for the event and a lot of strong people there. This is an estimate but probably 20-30 total competitors.

3events I chose to compete in were

1. Axle Double Overhand • 340lbs (this was probably around 5th place for that event)

2. 2.5” Crusher • 170lbs (2nd place)

3. Plate Pinch Hold for Time • 45’s for 11.94secs (2nd place.)

overall awesome competition and pretty good day for me. This is the link to the competition lifts: https://www.instagram.com/tv/CadNB-cJyHF/?utm_medium=copy_link

After the events I cleaned and pressed a shallow hub York 45lb plate. Video here:

Yeah watching the big guys lift today was fun. Carl Myerscough hit like 507 on the Axle and failed an attempt at the world record after that. and then he set a Saxon 3” record at around 292lbs. Everyone in the whole event pulled some great lifts. Super strong lineup all around.

What's the story on the 143 Inch? I have one of similar weight, but despite digging can not find the origin.

That bell was supposed to be 66kg/145lbs it’s from Gods of Grip, but it came in a little light at 143. I know the original set of Bells that Inch had did have some weights similar to that in the 140’s/150’s but I’m not sure of the exact numbers. I’m pretty sure he had a few bells lighter than the original 172. I’d have to research some more.

Did a lot of accessory work, then just went a little wild on random feats.

Thanks… it was a tough lift.

Some of these weren’t planned that day. I have a list of feats I’m after and couldn’t check any of them off my list that day so took it out on a bunch of random stuff haha.

I had never thought of adding weight to a transfer but almost hit multiple transfers heavier than the one filmed above. I think on the right day or with some more time I’ll pull off some better stuff. And of course chip away at the bigger feats on my list.

UPDATED FEATS LIST

When I Started this training log I wrote out some goals. I have hit several of those feats and added some more that I would like to accomplish. This list is full of some bigger feats I’m currently after. Raising all lifts and levels of training in some capacity is still always a priority.
(In no particular order)…

-Blob Transfer
-110 Double Legacy Blob Clean
-Lift Red Pill
-2x50lb Pancakes Plate Pinch
-Blobzilla
-Clean my 143lb Inch Dumbbell
-115hex/ Double Lift
-120 Hex Block Weight
-Plate curl 35
-2x55’s Plate Pinch

• As a bonus if anyone would like to suggest or add some ideas for me that would be awesome too. So if there’s a lift or feat that maybe I haven’t done or I’m just unaware of just comment it.
