Gripzer
Hi, In John Brookfields book Mastery of Hand Strength he recommends using York Barbells cut in half as block weights. But which specific York dumbbells is he referring to? https://yorkbarbell.com/product-category/dumbbells/ Thank you in advance, G

Interesting, but I do not think this is the same type of block weight discussed by JB in his book! Not 100% sure though?! Here is an interesting YouTube video I stumbled across, the person is using what appears to be York Cast Iron Hex Dumbbells. In his article the person states: Quote A world class feat of strength is to lift ‘The Blob’ a block weight made from a 100 lb. York dumbbell. The York block weights are even harder than the hex block weights of the same size due to the gradual sloping on the sides. Fist of Fury
It's the same thing. None of them are in production anymore tho, so you can only find the second hand.
DAVE101
I think you answered your own question. He talks about block weight training in general, which can be hex or blob shaped. If he mentions York, it's the York Blob 100%.
