Joe Sullivan 32
Hello all, I had made the shift from grip to arm wrestling last year. Now that I’m back I will share it with those who are interested. I pretty much stopped gripping for most of 2020 and in August of that year shifted to arm wrestling with intentions of competing. I can say one thing about arm wrestling... it did not increase my prior grip strength in any way and it actually decreased my strength for grip feats. When I went back to gripping I kind of had to work my way back to where I was. Arm wrestling only seemed to strengthen arm wrestling.... at least for me. I as definitely training it way too much on the table with other pullers because I enjoyed it so much. It was giving my elbow tendinitis from too much training and basically scrapped arm wrestling because I value my grip and other strength and feeling good way too much . So I went back to grip in Late December. Fast forward to February 6th and I entered the NYS arm wrestling championships. It went very well and what can I say? I am now bit by the AW bug again and will Find a way to balance both. My plan is to only pull once a month and the rest of the month be my regular grip and overall strength stuff. Here are some pics from the tournament. I also have some video if anyone has not seen them. 10
Joe Sullivan 32
Almost forgot to give thanks to John Eaton to pointing me in the right direction to my coach and friend , WAL masters world champion Chris Myers Who has been invaluable to me the last 5 months . Without John I would not have found Chris and so many awesome pullers in my area.

Climber028 1,110
Awesome, long time no see. Great to see you still in the strength world. I started pulling with some guys too during lockdowns since the climbing gyms closed. If I use both hands I might be competitive with you.

Yea as long as I’m breathing I will be involved in something strength. If I can’t run I will walk.. can’t walk I will crawl... and if I can’t crawl I will be dead....
