Hey guys!

From what I can tell 2020 has been a great bending year for many of us.

What was your favorite bends/bending related moments of 2020 and what you are looking forward to accomplish this coming year?

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

My favorite bends this year:
* 8x180mm A2 bolt in one IMP - DO
* 8x133mm CRS - DO, doubles
* 160kg GBI Cert - DO, doubles
* 10x180mm A2 bolt - Braced, doubles
* 8x180mm 12.9 bolt - Braced, doubles
* Red nail Snap.

Goals:
* 8.8 Horrido bolt cert
* Red Nail in one IMP
* 200kg GBI bar cert
* Kerchhaert SSP #3 under 5 min
There are more goal bends, but these means the most I guess.

Lastly I most say that the Horrido bending project got me really fired up, and same with the podcast Beyond the Bend. So huge thanks to @Horrido and @Beyond the Bend Podcast

Hope all of you reach your goals 👊

I think going through A LOT of different bending feats this past year I’ve found myself “chasing the dragon” more and more. I’m hardly ever in the garage bending stock for volume anymore. I’m always trying something hard or going for a certification so I may start to slow things down as I’ve gotten to a point where my bones and ligaments have to get more conditioned or I’m going to get hurt. The Horrido 10.9 bend was an eye opener for me. It would be nice to certify on it but I need to put in the time. I’d also like to kink my first 3/8 CRS stock too at some point.

The bending community has been great! Maybe I’ll get into trading some steel this year as it seems to vary from one country to the next! 👍

No reverse goals? ;)

Well this was my first year into bending, or well 4 months as of now.

Best bends so far:

3x6mm 180mm nails DU

8mm HRS 150mm DU

Full bend Grade 5 bolt 166k David Hornes Reverse

10 degree grade 8 bolt 207k Reverse

Goals for next year?

Fully bend Grade 8 bolt Reverse

Red nail Reverse cert if possible

Work on getting into DO position

Win the bending event at LGC contest if run.

I don't do any reverse bends, so its hard to set goals. But I kinda want to get into it and if I do then the A4 bolt might be a good goal. If not then atleast the 4.8bolt :)

Good luck on your goals. Red reverse cert would be really cool!

Nice topic here.

2020 was an up and down for me, but here are my favourite bends in a wild order:

Red Nail 6" in one IMP

CRS Square 8mm x 5,5" in doubles

CRS Square 8mm x 7" in IGP's

Bolt A2 8mm x 5,5" in one IMP

All double overhand of course.

Goals for 2021 are the following:

Bolt 10.9 (as always)

Red Nail 5,5" in one IMP

Tsar

Let's see how 2021 goes...

Great bends from you Jan! Surely 10.9 bolt will fall this coming year ✊

5,5'' A2 in one IMP is crazy.
I was pretty confident after I bend 7'' A2 in one IMP easily, and cut one down to 6.5'' and got humbled. That half inch made a big differens for me and I could only kink it to 20 degrees. So 5.5'' is huge!

Some very strong bends Jan! That 5.5” bolt in one pad is a very hard bend and my favorite bend I saw you do this year. Also, you started Horrido Bending, which is a big accomplishment and great for the bending world.

Thanks @Slippery Pete and @Donc101 nice to hear.

Yes the Horrido Bending Project was also a Highlight for me this year. I have never thought that this would grow so fast. But that's because of all the steel benders out there who give it a chance and who are supporting this. This is really great and I am very thankfull for all of that and for all of you.

In my mind we are just at 50% with this project. There will be a lot more in the future and my plan for 2021 is to let it grow more and get more professional but also keep it very personal for our great community!

I am very happy with my bending in 2020. I accomplished all of my main goals. These are the bends I can think of that I am most proud of:

  • Double Overhand: Bastard in 1/3 IMP
  • Double Overhand: Horrido 8.8 bolt x 6.5”
  • Double Overhand: GBI 210 Bar
  • Double Overhand: Devil’s Challenge: bending 66 x 6” Bastards in a row
  • Double Overhand: Bending a 50 lb box of 60d nails plus 150 nails: 725 nails total
  • Braced: Iron Grip Russian 265kg 12” Bar
  • Braced: 2 x 6” Red Nails taped together
  • Braced: 3 x Grade 5 bolts taped together
  • Braced: 5 x 6” nails taped together
  • Braced: 2 x Grade 5 Bolts and 2 x 6” nails taped together
  • Braced: 4.5” x 3/8 CRS Gold Nail Replica from DHWOG
  • Braced: Guinness WR of 14 x 10” x 3/8 Spikes in 1 minute
  • Braced: 60 Gold Nails back to back
  • Braced: 12mm x 6 7/8”
  • Braced: Horrido 12.9 Bolt x 5.5” (took longer than 5 minute cert time)
  • Braced: 2 x 10” x 3/8 spikes taped together

I will probably focus on some longer bar bends at the start of 2021 and then focus on training for my Michigan bending comp in May. Hopefully, a big turnout for that comp. Lots of great bending all over the world in 2020. I am excited for another great year in 2021.

Not sure you have anything to worry about chief.
