Fair price for York deep dish plates?

What is a fair price for a pair of 45 lb 1940’s York deep dish plates? Someone offered me $700 for a pair and I am still hesitating to buy those.

I think the plates are in pretty good condition.

If you’re patient you’ll find them for regular iron price (<$1.00/pound)

From where I live, I actually never saw some one selling York deep dish plates on Craigslist/Facebook. So far the best deal I saw was Ivanko deep dish plates at $1.5/pound.

Other than grip guys and collectors I think many just consider them old junk. Just see what hit plate takes with a bit of patina. This year isn’t the best for purchasing due to the COVID factor added to everything gym.

The 1940s deep dish plates look different (thick hub, 2nd column) than those pictured which are the 1950s-‘60s version. I’ve seen them go for anywhere between free and $1000, with the middle being more reasonable. Ebay is obviously going to be on the high end of that range due to visibility and convenience. Also, list price =\= sold price. Any clown can list their weights for a ridiculous price, that doesn’t mean it sells.

Haven't trained grip in a few years and got the itch.

the best time to buy these plates is when you find them ,it is a fare price.

The day after this post was made, I saw a pair on craigslist for $1 per lb. Of course it was gobbled up before I got to it, but it goes to show they aren't some impossible to find item. You can get these plates, and you can get them now if you're willing to pay, or you can get them cheap if you're willing to wait.

It looks like whoever took this photo trains with The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!
