Trying to kill off some grip feats...

I´m trying to kill off the IM certifications. This log will last forever!

 

Age: 34

Weight: 115-120 kg 

Training years: 20+

Grip training years: 6

Equipment: Grippers, hub, RH, pinchblock and nails.

 

Current stats for the certs:

Captain of crush: CoC #3 (152) 4 reps

Crush to Dust: Rolling Thunder 70 kg (actually a RH), Hub 12,5 kg. No chalk and loading pin not included.

The Red rooster: Barely kink the yellow nail. Recently started with bending so hopefully there is room for improvement.

 

Method: 4 training sessions a week. Usually two sessions of grippers, rh and hub a week. For now I just bend as much as I can, I dont really have a plan for that yet. I´ll just log the grip training, though I do train other stuff the same session.

Comment: Wife is out of town so hitting the gym as much as I can. Maybe fatgrip deadlift and DO tomorrow if it feels ok.

Blockbuster - Stupid left thumb doesn't like 3".

Comment: Pretty standard session even if it was fifth grip training in a row. No more attempts on the yellow for now. I need to find some nice piece of steel to fill the gap between my 5mm x 5" sq crs and the yellow nail and for sure I need to get my form solid. Still upsetting over the yellow attempt, worst try ever. Good back workout though.

Comment: So finally some progress on the yellow nail. Did 2 nails, both prekinked, 1* and maby 15*. Leftovers from previous sessions. I will of course go for yellow next session again with DU, but for DO I need some step between 5 mm x 5" sq crs and the yellow. I´ll buy home some 6 mm square crs and some 6 mm stainless. Unfortunately I think they will be to heavy.

FGX - Maybe too long rest pauses but otherwise ok.

DU - Nice result but bad technique. Need to focus more on form.

Hub - Not recovered at all. Aborted after first lift.

 

Comments: Mainly lifting with my head today, not really recovered since the weekend.

CoC #3 F (162) - Get stuck at the point where handle is parallel to filled surface.

DO - Better form this time but still no power transition to the bar when attempting the yellow.

Comments: Really weak today, the benchpress was a disaster. Hopefully in beginning of next week I´ll receive some new steel so in can close the gap between 5 mm sq and yellow.

RH - The left is not really working atm while right is getting better.

DU - Short of 5 mm steel so I went for blue. A bit of a struggle but finally I´m in no mans land between blue and red. With better form I think there is still room for improvement!

CoC #3.5 (171) - Misstake. Was suppose to get my #3 (155) but brought the wrong gripper to the gym. Best attempt ever though on 3.5 with left, maybe 2-3 mm apart.

Hub - Best series ever though but I think there might have been some chalk left on my hands from the gripper. 11,25 kg is 1 RM with right hand lol.

Comments:  Lost my wrap today so couldn´t bend. Didn´t got any 5 mm steel anyways so maybe not a big deal.

FGX - Plan was to do 2 or even 3 reps but I failed second rep. Accepted the loss after 5 attempts or so and lowered the weight. Not good.

DU - Only ~15* kink on second blue. If I dont smash it in  a second or two I really have to struggle. No time for proper rest today. I´ll continue next session.

Hub - Probably some chalk left today aswell from grippers. Would have been pb otherwise. If I chalk up I think the CTD hub is easy piece.

DO - No time to cut up steel. Knew it was to hard. Barely kicked it.

Reverse - 2 nails with different hand setup switching anchor and driver.

Comments: Went to the gym a second time for some cardio. Since the DO sucked earlier today i thought reverse would be a good idea. The kink and crushdown is quite easy but sweep is really my weak point for reverse style. Not really able to transition any force to the bar, similar to the DO where the kink is the problem.

CoC #3 (155) - I think my hard #3 is slippery and needs a proper cleaning. Or I just suck.

DO - Tried some different attack angles and so on. Disaster.

Comments: Not the best sessions but at least the benchpress was back on track. So strange that I touch pb on RH after working sets are done while pb attempt on 72,5 kg doesn't go up. Crazy that some dudes here curl 10, 15 kg or even more. The torque is just massive even with 10 kg not parallel to floor.

FGX - 110 kg is too heavy at the moment. Maybe I´ll go for fatgripz for a couple of weeks.

RH - So so close to 72,5 kg with left. Only dismissed since it was a 1 RM pr attempt. If it was only a random rep I would've approved it.

Comments: Solid bench today as well. Gripper though was a big disappointment. Finally, if not forward, at least not a step backward with the RH. So damn close to 72,5 kg now. I will change gym in a month or so, where chalk hopefully is allowed. Therefor there will be an max attempt on all handles without chalk within this last month or so. Of 3 handles, six hands, I think 3 new pbs is ok and reasonable, 4 or more is hallelujah.

DU - Second blue was a real struggle. Super annoying that I had to re wrap 3 times and rubber bands broke. I really need to get some extra wraps.

Fatgripz - Felt really good in my hands today so 1 rep on top set was a disappointment. Last sessions with fgx has been so bad so I used original fgs for a change.

Comments: Rest pauses on fatgripz are not really ok, a bit to long. Skipped bending today since I have no rubber bands for the wrap. Not sure when I can fix that so it might be a short bending break for now.

CoC #2.5 (132) CCS - Same numbers as 3 years ago, one could complain about the progress.

Comments: Not good at all. I also used chalk so really no excuse for sucking today. Got pain in tendom/muscle between thumb and index finger. It does not restrict force generation but feels intense if I touch area. Not sure if this originates from grippers or last pinch session.

Comments: 2 new prs but still not satified. I think (hopefully) I can add 1,25 kg on both hands. Max attempts on RH and pinchblock was canceled due to flue. A couple of days off then I´ll go lifting again.

Comments: Missed to log some sessions but nothing fancy missed. Only done grippers since all my gear is in boxes. Recently moved so looking for a descent gym, hopefully I get a membership this week and can start with the fatbar/fatgripz/RH again. The garage is a mess so I don´t know when I can cut up and prep some steel for bending. I really would like to get back on bending track.

Comments: Pretty awesome that my new gym has RH and loading pin in its equipment! Also nice plates for pinching. Maybe one should add 4 x 5 kg and 2 x 20 kg pinch lift to To-Do list.
