Birthday deadlifts

Tom Flesher

Recommended Posts

This was the first year I did any sort of birthday challenge. I decided to do 38 reps at 380, just dipping my toe in the water to see . I’d planned to go 11-10-9-8 but that didn’t work out as planned.

First set is the video linked below. Form was all over the place but especially lazy in this first set. (Probably should have waited to have the celebratory sherry and cigar till after the deadlift party.) Bonus points if you recognize the music. No bonus points for guessing how old I am.

Nice job.  I asked about your man cave and boom!  There it is.

You know this means you need 50 st 500 in 12 years.  ;)

Good job! I have been doing these birthday challenges for years incorporating my age into the challenge.  Jack LaLanne was famous for doing birthday challengers.  Two of my most memorable challenges were;

At age 52, deadlifted 126 pound dumbbells (total 252 pounds) for 252 reps.

At age 56 deadlifted 456 for 56 reps in 56 minutes but finished in 50 minutes and 52 seconds
