All bent in 1.25“ suede wraps in less than 3 minutes to 180° with a rolled-up towel for leg protection.

F = Front, H = Hind, TC = Toeclip, SC = Sideclips, UC = Unclipped, R! = Clip Removed!

I have bent some more shoes after that, but haven't updated the list. But my motivation is high to start a comeback.

And finally a list I compield for the benders in Europe, as the list from Jedd or the BB list is pretty much useless, as you can't get most of the shoes over here:

Horseshoe Progression Shortlist (edited by C.-A. Mertz)

Following shoes make a good progression chart from absolute beginners to elite level horseshoe benders.

I tried to keep it simple. All listed shoes are front shoes and except the DFs unclipped. All listed shoes from the same model have the same dimensions through the sizes! That means that the biggest size is easiest to bend, smallest size hardest (physics!) and therefore give a good progression: every size smaller is “a little bit” harder than the one before!

Feel free to bridge your gaps with shoes from the BIG list or try to bend whatever seems cool to you...

Some general aspects first:

Front shoes are smoother/easier to bend than hind shoes.

From the same model in the same size the unclipped shoes are easiest to bend, the toeclipped ones need a little bit more control and the sideclipped version is a good bit harder, especially in the crush down. So they make a good addition! (From the SX7 and DF there are sideclipped versions too!)

There are thinner (=easier) shoes available, but I would not recommend to bend them, as they can and will snap!

Bend steel on your own risk and use common sense! 😉

Kerckhaert Steel-Kings DR #6-30 16x8 F-UC

Kerckhaert Steel-Kings DR #4-28 16x8 F-UC

Kerckhaert Steel-Kings DR #2-26 16x8 F-UC

Kerckhaert Steel-Kings DR #1-25 16x8 F-UC

Kerckhaert TDR 16x8 #2 F-UC

Kerckhaert TDR 16x8 #1 F-UC

Kerckhaert TDR 16x8 #0 F-UC

Kerckhaert TNC 18x6 #2 F-UC

Kerckhaert TNC 18x6 #1 F-UC

Kerckhaert TNC 18x6 #0 F-UC

Kerckhaert TNC 18x6 #00 F-UC

Note: The TNC #0 might already be harder than the SX7 #2 F-UC...

Kerckhaert SX7 18x7 #2 F-UC

Kerckhaert SX7 18x7 #1 F-UC

Kerckhaert SX7 18x7 #0 F-UC

Kerckhaert SX7 18x7 #00 F-UC

Kerckhaert SX7 18x7 #000 F-UC

Kerckhaert SX7 18x7 #0000 F-UC

Note: The sideclipped version of the SX7 #2 is 19x7mm and A LOT harder than the unclipped shoe!

Note: This gap looks huge, but the main issue is the difference in size! If you have worked your way down through the smaller sizes (#00, #000, #0000), it could be hard to find the "sweet spots" for the bigger sizes (#3...#5), so they can feel harder, just because you are not used to it...)

Kerckhaert DF 22x8 #4 F-TC

Kerckhaert DF 22x8 #3 F-TC

Kerckhaert DF 22x8 #2 F-TC

Kerckhaert DF 22x8 #1 F-TC

Kerckhaert DF 22x8 #0 F-TC

Kerckhaert DF 22x8 #00 F-TC

Have fun!

Sorry for spamming your thread, Ivan, I've seen too late, that your post only relates to the old BB forum.

Thank you guys!  These lists helped me immensely when I was first starting out with shoes.  And even now, I still never get tired of looking through these ranking lists.
