In this event both the right and left hands will be tested individually.

Rules

1. The free hand may be used to set the gripper in the gripper hand. The set cannot be made to the point where the gripper handles go beyond parallel. Once the set has been made the free hand must be removed and cannot come into contact with the gripper or with the gripping arm from the elbow down, during the course of the close(s).

2. The gripper must be held with the spring facing upwards.

3. The handles must touch completely between each repetition.

4. The handles must be clearly opened between each repetition.

5. Only the supplied chalk can be used.

Scoring

The scoring system will be as follows.

1. A close of the Trainer gripper is worth 100 points. Every repetition made after the first close is worth an extra 1 point.

2. A close of the #1 gripper is worth 160 points. Every repetition made after the first close is worth an extra 1 point.

Event 2

Pinch Machine

In this event you must nominate either your left or right hand to perform the lift. The hand not used in this lift will be the hand that will be used to perform Event 3 The Little Big Horn.

Rules

1. The lifter will take their place on the pinch machine platform. The weight will be lifted by pinch gripping the handle with the selected hand and lifting the weight until the flag falls. No part of the body besides the hand carrying out the lift can touch the handle during the course of the lift.

2. No aids can be used in this lift.

Event 3

The Little Big Horn

In this event you must the hand opposite to that used in Event 2 Pinch Machine.

Rules

1. The lift will start with the weight between their feet, with the narrow end of the Little Big Horn facing upwards. The Little Big Horn is to be gripped near the top and is not to touch any part of the body, including the forearm of the lifting hand. Lift clear of the floor and hold until the referee’s signal, upon which the lifter will return the weight to the ground, with contact maintained between the lifters hand and the Little Big Horn.

2. Only the supplied chalk can be used.

Event 4

Table Top Wrist Curl using a 2” Bar

This event will test both hands.

Rules

1. The lifter will take their place at the table. With their forearm resting on the table’s surface the lifter will place their hands under the bar, which will then be lowered onto the hands with the lifters knuckles resting against the table top. Once in position the lifter will lift the weight using their wrists to raise their knuckles clear of the table’s surface and hold until the referees signal to lower the weight, upon which the lifter will return to the starting position and have the weight racked.

2. A thumbless grip may be used.

3. Only the supplied chalk can be used.

Event 5

Farmer's Bars Hold for Time

This event will test both hands.

Rules

1. The lifter will take their place between the loaded farmer’s bars, which will be resting on benches on either side of the lifter. The lifter will proceed to grab the handles in each hand and lift the chosen weight. The lifter will then hold the weight for as long a time as possible.

2. The time will be judged from when the lifter clears the bars from the benches until the bars touch the bench again.

3. Any accidental touch of the weight to the benches will result in the end of that attempt.

4. Hook gripping the bars will not be allowed.

5. Only the supplied chalk can be used.

Scoring

The scoring system will be as follows (the weight stated is the total sum of the weight on both bars).

1. A hold of 200lbs is worth 90 points. Every second held after the lift is worth an extra 1 point.

2. A hold of 300lbs is worth 180 points. Every second held after the lift is worth an extra 1 point.

3. A hold of 400lbs is worth 270 points. Every second held after the lift is worth an extra 1 point.

4. A hold of 500lbs is worth 360 points. Every second held after the lift is worth an extra 1 point.

HI Authur

I hope to compete... well give it a go anyway.

Got 2 questions...

- how many people do you think will compete?

- the trap bar hold - how thick's the handle, and how high off the floor?

The hold is the event I'm most worried about.. my supporting grip is crap, even the opening 200lb a hand is going to be tough :laugh

Hey Mark,

We should be looking at a field of 10 I say. I'll probably be running another grip session in the coming weeks before the comp to run through all the lifts, so come down and have a hit out.

As for the Trap Bar Hold, I have to edit that to Farmer's Bar Hold. The handles are normal 1 1/4". Also The starting weight won't be 200lb's each hand, but 200lbs total, 100lbs each hand. Plus with the Farmer's Bars, the weight doesn't have a tendency to roll out fo the hand, so I think you should do ok.

They will also be lifted off benches, so it's a very partial lift as we're testing the supporting grip not the back ;) .

I'll post the next time we have another training session if you're interested in coming down.
