Noobishindi
Current level: TNS #2, close a heavily filed #2.5 and a ghp6 with a deep set. Current training for crush: twice a week, 3 sets of 10 second negative holds with a gripper I can’t yet close (close with 2 hands and then fight to hold handles as close as I can). This worked to get to where I was, albeit very slowly. I’ve never really trained full closes or any other style (choked, cc, etc). I’ve been working with the #3 with negatives but don’t seem to progress much (some days I can hold it to where the handles are close, other days it’s parallel or even further). I’ve been thinking of adding choked work with the ghp6 from parallel and then slowly work out to progressively wider handles. Would I be losing out on anything if I switch to just ghp6 choked work twice a week and foregoing negatives with the #3? Or would it make more sense to rotate both? I dont do all the reps and different widths. If you’re trying to close a #3 then decide what width that will be ccs, mms, tns. then train that with the 2.5. If you feel like you get the 2.5 pretty easy. Grab the 3 and practice closing even if you miss it. But like i said just my opinion who am i!!
Stephen Anderson
Also to add. Im not a fan of negatives dont really see the benefit. Same with the chocked grippers.
Fist of Fury
I would switch to high set low rep training.
