2020 Ft Worth Record Breaker

Stephen Anderson

Recommended Posts

Came down to Texas this weekend to hangout and just try to PR on some of my current lifts.

The comp was well ran like always. We did silver bullet first event. Of course in @Boulderbrew Tanner Merkle fashion he put up a big 30 sec hold on the #4. I then went and put up a big PR for myself with 22sec on the #4.

next event was the rolling thunder this and axle are both events that i need to get significantly better at. For me patience and consistency are my enemies! But I registered 183 on rolling thunder and 340 on axle which are both good numbers to start the year. Adam and Tanner of course put up huge numbers. Not sure on exacts but results should be out soon.

last was saxon bar this was an event i was getting better at in training and just wanted to put a number up that was just as good as my last comp. I believe i did around 209 which i was happy with. Again adam and tanner blow it away like always!

afterwards we messed around with some other implements i never have used before which is always fun.
Then went back to adams for the real fun. Had some fun trying all sorts of bending and new grippers. watched adam and tanner both do a double inch farmers walk for a significant distance. Very impressive. Overall it was a fun weekend glad i was able to come down and hangout and soak up all the knowledge as always!!

Good time Saturday. Several contestants had to drop out but we had 2 join in on the spot to try it out.

Extremely impressive silverbullet from Steven this weekend. This puts him #4 on all time list. Tanner was just shy of exceeding his WR time.

Rolling thunder giving me grief this month. Just a few weeks ago an all time best on my contest handle followed by a day where even 200 was feeling heavy during warm ups. Tanner shined with this 260 lift

Axle a notable standout was Josh Mord hitting his attempts in between squat sets with 475-500. His 295 solid lock out was 2 minutes after dunking 485. Stevens lifts were held back with a triceps pain I think he’s actually closer to 365 on a peaked day. Tanner pulled conventional and had an all time pr with 415. I had a very good 415 and missed 425 as I locked out. I feel very good for the upcoming Arnold on the axle.

3”x4” Saxon was a contest PR for each of us on this bar. I was predicting a little bit heavier but I’ll take it.

Finball key pinch - it’s a fun event. Stevens first try had 60 lb. I had a slightly better lift than at Bonehill and Tanner had a strong 90 lb lift which is reaching on the current WR.

2.5” x 5” Saxon for me contest PR of 273.

Post contest Inch lifts and steel bending. Tanner and Steven fooled with some 180-188 level grippers. Tanner did a farmers walk of over 50’ with a pair of Inches.

Dynamic duo doing what they do⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐️Of course I zero in on KP- your Finnish Ball lifts were incredible especially at end of contest.

Not to take anything away from those impressive lifts but just because we are on the topic of Finnish Ball - have you seem what Jerome Bloom can do on that at BW 145 pounds?  I have never tried one, but based on the numbers I see people doing, Jerome may actually be best in the world at it (and it is right around what Tanner and Adam just did, yes).  Respect to all aforementioned!

Jerome sleeps with the FB under his pillow and has it seasoned by the grip gods. Dynamic duo doing the FB at END of contest and my guess very little FB training is much different talent level, IMO. Bodyweight factor for KP? come on...

Joe man with the negativity!  I was praising Jerome's lifts.  Tanner and Adam can't be best at the world in EVERYTHING lol.

And yes, I know, it was end of contest on a lift they don't train.  If they trained it they might beat him.  I admire all those guys' lifts, I am just joining the conversation.  Jerome is a key pinch specialist and deserves the occasional kowtow, IMHO.  And I am intrigued by the rise of the Finnish Ball, because I have never tried one.

Not to take away from anyones lift at all. I have nothing to write home about. But i dont consider  the FB to be body weight dependent. That kinda goes for key pinching in general.

I'm sorry you saw it that way, because that is not the game I was going for.

Yeah but I see how it could be taken that way so now I regret saying it.  If I were one of the folks near the record I might have been more careful.

Mother of god that Inch farm walk Tanner did. Is there a Inch abuse hotline we can call in. Unreal Tanner:rock

That was around 6 pm....we began lifting at noon. If he’s fresh he’s closer to a 75-80’ mark. We don’t get two inches at practice very often but when we do we beat them in to the floor

Here we go again with the umpteenth thread becoming about comparing someone else or something not being as impressive as this or that. Man, I scratch my head all the time on why people around here just can’t appreciate a lift and the lifter doing it rather than saying this one does it better or it wasn’t impressive because of hand size this or weight class that. One of the main reasons I’m losing my care for this game in general.

No need to disrespect Jerome, he is a very small guy doing some impressive lifts from what I understand. Clearly he also work very hard to do what he does. Tanner and Adam may have more talent, but that is something you are born with and as such doesn't necessarily impress me personally more than Jerome's lifts. Just as I don't necessarily find Oleg Zhok's domination of guys in his weightclass impressive.

I dont think anyone disrespected jerome. I think it was just mentioned that bodyweight was not a factor with any key pinch lift. But please correct me if im wrong.

Talent is born? And if someone is born with talent it doesn’t impress? Why not? There are many people with talent and don’t even know it, and others with no talent  that bust their humps to be on par with those that do. Some have athleticism, some have intelligence Etc etc.... but to say it’s not impressive because you perceive it as talent they were born with kind of cheapens the achievements, no? The ones that say that the person was born with talent and they aren’t that impressed by it are usually ones born with no talent and not much to show in regards to what’s being spoken of that isn’t perceived by them as being impressive . IM NOT SAYING THIS IS YOU.... BUT, just my general observation of the type of clientele that makes that kind of a comment. I’m impressed with strength and the exhibition thereof no matter if it’s someone perceived to be born with it or one who is seen to be a genetic mess.....

Please forgive me, all, for the bad taste that has been building up in my mouth for the CONSTANT downplay or underhanded “compliments” that usually end with a “it was good.....BUT” twist on it of feats by those that have the stones to display them on the threads here to keep this place interesting.....

I’ll go ahead and turn the heat up, even more.. Gerome is good at the tiny fingertip stuff, but what else is he good at in this sport? When compared to bigger guys anyways? Not even a comparison imo. Can’t mention a guy like Gerome in the same breath as guys like Tanner or ATG. My words also shouldn’t need to be classified as hate for Gerome by stating this either. It being understood to not compare them sort of goes without saying if you ask me. Btw, I’m betting Robert would mop Gerome’s ass up in a 5 event Armlifting comp, if we’re talking pound for pound!

obviously my words on the matter here aren’t really necessary. And may even be overkill. But are you not entertained?!

I look forward to the next one!

To be fair, after awhile seeing the same folk doing the same thing awesomely it gets boring. I think impressive is thrown around here too much especially with just a small pool of people. You get numb to it.

oh boy jedd won another thing..

oh boy tanner and adam did another thing better than most everyone...

Same shit different patch of grass, its boring. Like when the  patriots were winning all the time. We get it, your gifted...

Even the best food in the world would get boring if you had it every day. Thats where we are. It doesnt mean its less impressive, because it is. Dominate strength is dominate strength. But you grow to expect it and therefore its not surprising anymore.
