Blacksmith513
I've been watching videos of people lifting anvils by the horn with one arm. I've got a 220lbs anvil, but that's for forging. But I got an idea, the other day when I was working out, I was trying to lift my lighter sandbag, which is like 110lbs with one arm.. I could just barely budge it off the ground. But it got me thinking, its not quite the same as lifting an anvil, but would it be a good alternative? Id start with maybe 70lbs and add weight as needed.
Ogston
I have a 90lb bag that I’ll have to try it with!!
Fist of Fury
V-lifts are friction lifts - meaning the lift is highly dependant on how much friction you can create between the hand and it's surface. You'll be missing out on that completely when lifting a sandbag (I assume it's made of some type of cloth). Other than that it's probably a really good substitute, it should hit the muscles in the arms in the same way at least.
Climber028
If you are a metal worker wouldn't it be easier for you to just make a replica anvil horn and then lift with it attached to some weights?
Guest
Totally different lifts. In order to get good at something specific you should train as specific for the feat as you can. The sand bag one hand lifts can be a general grip strength accessory, but not as a do all.
