Slippery Pete
I'm pretty new to bending, and especially braced bending. How does this look? Is it legal to lie on the floor? And if so, is it okay to do the thing that I do with my leg?
zs242
I think it's a legit bend. Great battle! If you choose the standing position on the kink, try to hook your left foot behind your right leg. It gives you more stability and you can generate more torque. On the sweep (around 0:49 on your vids) when you try to bend the bar between your legs will be the good and the strongest technique. It will be painfull especially in the first time, and need some flexibility too but over time your body will adopt. Lying on the floor is legit, but you can't use your big muscle groups and loose lots of power. On the crush phase try to put your heels together as possible, and always wear shoes and try to find a slip-resistant surface. I hope it helps, keep going! 2

Thanks I could not get any movement with the "under the butt" technique. The pain was so much even when I did not put that much force into it. Hope I will get the hang of it. I was at the hardware store yesterday and bought this stock. Was hoping to get 14mm round steel also. Sad to hear that they did not sell that. I checked the online story from a place in a bigger city nearby. They did not have 14mm hot rolled either. Is it usually hard to find? I recommend watching a lot of braced bending videos from good benders. You will pick up techniques and try them out and see what works for you. I was not sure on your question on legality, so I posted the question on Facebook and this was the result:
Slippery Pete
Donc101: I feel stronger lying down cause I can hook my leg around the bar and pull with one of my legs. It might not be very visible in the video. But I get a little bit of help from that. Big thanks for your time to look it up! I have done braced bend 4-5 times now. But with much shorter bars. Edit: I might have been unclear, I was mostly wondering if it was allowed to wrap your leg around the bar Edited June 5, 2019 by Slippery Pete
