Other handles carryover to rolling thunder

Thanks!

an example of what I was thinking would be like deficit deadlifts. It is a harder exercise that you can only use less weight than a regular deadlift. If you spent 2 months working your deficit and brought that up a few pounds, by the time you start regular deadlifting you will normally hit a PR....not necessarily straight away as you need to adjust working from a different height, but the PR will come because you built strength from a deficit.

In my mind going from increasing a thicker handle weight when you get back to your goal implement you will have a bigger base, a stronger thumb and you will be able to push the thinner handle further.

But that is all in my mind!

I cant remember where I read it, but someone said once that the best way to train the rolling thunder is to not train the rolling thunder....and I dont know how true that is

Well that doesn't hold up at all, if you're not training something you're not training it. Period.

Getting stronger at pinch will bring your thick bar strength up but that goes for all thick bar not just the RT. If you want to be good at something you need to train on it. This is more true to grip than most other stuff. If your goal is to lift as much weight as you can on the RT the best way is to train with the RT. Just because other handles spin better doesn't mean you will reach your full potential on the RT by training on them. As I said earlier you will pull significantly more weight on the RT and if your arm (your whole arm) can't handle that weight, it will not leave the ground.

I've trained with LGC handle, Wrist Wrench, Inch trainers etc and they didn't do much for my RT numbers at all. In fact I had to spend several weeks just to get back to the old numbers I was pulling on the RT. Simply because I wasn't used to pulling that kind of weight.
