Is it cool if I come down as a spectator and maybe mess around with some implements during the warmups if is doesn't interfere with any one? Uh... hells yea.

Jedd Johnson
My write-up that I posted on Facebook Well, I am happy to say that I successfully regained the North American Absolute Championship this past weekend, held at Titan Strength Gym in Elmira, NY, (owned by Brad Martin) To compete at the North American Championship, you must qualify by either placing high enough in a sanctioned grip contest or provide video evidence of certain lifts. There are multiple weight classes for men and women to compete in, and each weight class winner earns the title, "North American Champion," and receives a medal. The overall winner is the competitor with the highest overall score, and I was able to pull that off this year. Last year's champion was my good friend and training partner, Lucas Raymond. He took first in the 4th event, the Jug Lift and won the 93kg weight class. The top Canadian competitor, Eric Roussin, finished second in the overall. He took first in the 2nd event, the Napalm's Nightmare Lift, a challenge I invented. Eric also became the 105kg champion. Lucas, Eric, and I all tied in the 5th event, the Medley, a speed event, where you had to try to compete at least 20 out of 25 challenges inside 2 minutes. All three of us got the maximum 20 points. I was able to finish in 1st place in the 1st and 3rd events, the Silver Bullet Hold and the Two Hands Pinch, respectively. We also have a team championship, where Canada and United States compete against each other. The USA brought home the Team Trophy (sponsored by Mr Roussin - thanks Eric!) But the most important thing is every one was able to put together a great competition and have a good day on the grip platform. It's always sweet to meet the new lifters, such as Natasha Batt & Adam Chappelle from Canada, and Abner Ivan Nazario, from New Jersey, and see long time friends who I've completed with for many years. To celebrate the win, I'll be coming out with some pretty cool announcements, so please stay tuned for that!
