Difference in plate pinching - rubberized vs steel plates

Hey guys, I've seen that pinching two 35s is regarded as a feat of strength so I wanted to ask this question:

Is there a huge difference in pinching two steel plates vs pinching two rubberized plates?

The plates I use for pinching are rubberized, but it's a thin layer and they are 30+ years old, and slick + they are thicker. Two plates are about 10 cm/4 inches thick.

I can lift them to forehead level, pass them from hand to hand behind my back, and I've managed to lift 20 + 15 with my right hand.

So can anyone with experience tell me what's the difference that they feel? I do not have access to steel plates with a flat side, I've never seen those in Serbia.

Thanks in advance!

I would say it's a big difference yes. It also depends on what plates it is, thickness etc. Some plates has a really small rim which makes it harder. Standard competition plates like Eleiko is thinner which can make it more difficult but that also depends on the individual. Some people prefer a smaller width while others like wider.
