Nigel Blackburn
Time sure does fly! King Kong of Grip 2018--my first King Kong and second grip competition--is quickly approaching. To say I'm excited is an understatement. I wanted to share a few lifts I hit this week on the implements that will be tested. *All lifts done at 66kg/145lbs 1) 191.0 lbs 2.5" Jug 2) 130.4 lbs 2.5" Crusher 3) 81.1 lbs Flask I hope everyone's training is going well, and best of luck! Vinnie
NIce! So What's your secret on the jug? The other numbers are good, too, but the jug is outstanding.

The other numbers are good, too, but the jug is outstanding. Thanks, Vinnie! The most important 3 things that work for me would be: 1) underhand grip (if it doesn't feel rough on the bicep)--this just tends to work well for me. I know a lot of people are better with a side grip or overhand. 2) Getting in an optimal position over the implement--I emphasize getting the implement slightly off-center, closer to the side I am lifting. So if I'm pulling lefty, I would start with it closer to my left foot. Also notable is trying to "straddle" the implement as much as possible; if it's too far in front, the pull is so much more difficult. 3) Getting a good breath to brace for full-body tension--in my opinion, this becomes even more important for heavier implements like the jug. If I approach it loosely, it will wreck me once i get to 90%+.
Climber028
Thanks for giving me some competition, it's lonely down here in 66k. That jug lift is huge.

Will keep those tips in mind Saturday, which will be my last KK workout before KK, and see how they work for me.
