Drygord
Looking for some ideas to do farmers walks with homemade stuff. What I have: sticks for handles, ropes, dirt (kind of lightweight dirt though). what I can buy: trash bags, possibly buckets, maybe a few gallon jugs of milk/juice. Drygord
I'm thinking maybe just tying up a few contractors trash bags loaded with a ton of dirt and tying ropes around them up to the wood handles?
acromegaman
Just grab 2 or more 5 gallon buckets and fill them full of dirt or rocks. You could carry 2 per hand
wobbler
Do you have weights? I'd get some 4x4s, make a handle and weight loading pins with threaded pipe and floor flanges. Another 4x4 cut in half and four lag bolts, you could have a complete frame.
Drygord
No weights- at least in the location where I will be doing the walks. I like the idea of the 4x4 posts though seems really stable and solid. I've got 2x4s at the spot and could just nail 2 together. The 5 gallon buckets are probably the simplest solution but I don't want the weight banging against my knees. At this point I'm thinking of just tying contractor trash bags loaded with dirt on two ends of a pipe. Will be less stable than weights but if I tie the bags tight enough I figure they won't wobble excessively.
