G'day everyone, Just back into lifting after years off, purchased a trainer, #1 and a #1.5, was able to rep the trainer and 1, closed the 1.5 fine for 2-3, so purchased a #2 and a #2.5, about 1/2 a cm of closing a #2, i reckon i can get it within a month but not sure how to train with these things so this will turn into a training post too with hopes of tips, im basically just closing them atm from full open, watched a youtube vid which showed correct placement which helped. Everyone needs a goal, guess the goal will be a #4 haha.

This is my favorite advice.... File your #1 and #1.5 immediately.  Just do it and don't look back.  Just a little to start, and more as time goes on.  It doesn't have to be pretty, it just needs to close farther.

You'll be able to get the #2 just by doing reps on the grippers you have.  I would argue you don't even need a program that is clever or organized.  Just doing reps is going to close a 5mm gap.

Work on explosive closing, slamming the gripper shut with deadly speed on each rep.  Use the #1.5 and do 4-8 sets of 3-6 reps.  If you're getting fewer than 3 reps, go down to the #1 and round out the sets with that.  If you're finishing all 8 sets, try and up the total number of reps over the 8 sets.  Don't work out again until your hands are fresh and CNS recovered.  If a task such as typing on a keyboard feels easy and coordinated, that's a good indication that you're ready to go again.

I bet you close the #2 in a matter of a few short weeks!  You might have to get clever to close the #2.5 but we'll cross that bridge later.
