Welcome to my workout log. Please critique as I am but a noob and my training regimen lacks discipline and any semblance of organization.

This will ... hurt tomorrow. Glad I pushed through. I was getting SUPER frustrated after failing on the short 60d. Refocused on the 5.5" piece and finished with quite a few PRs. Was originally going to wait til tomorrow but decided to go for it and not a bad workout. I think I may need to cut bending frequency for the moment or my hands will turn to rubble.

FBBC Bastard - WAYY easier than expected

FBBC Big Bastard - Still easy. Didn't even bother crushing it as far as possible to save energy

FBBC Huge Bastard - Crush wasn't easy but not insanely hard. Grand is not far off

FBBC Shiny Bastard - Crush was TOUGH. Stuck at 2.25" and already tired from the last 5. Pushed through and got it to 1.9"

FBBC Hexabastard - 5 Degree kink

5/16"x5" HCA FH G2 - Tough and off center. Got a blood blister from this one. Easier than the G8 but a bit tired by this point.

5/16"x6" HRS Reverse

This was an old school Derek masochistic workout. I was DEAD after the Shiny and just kept bending. Hex will go down next workout.

Ended with blisters in both palms. Worsened the blood blister on my right ring finger. Blister on left thumb. That is only the ones that didn't rip instantly. Hands were shredded in general.

The 5/16"x5" HRS was my DO PR before this workout and I got it close to 90 degrees strictly from Reverse/DU. I have come a LONG way in a month and if I can stay focused and work on my crush then HUGE steel will go down within the year. This is all from single leathers that are just over an inch around a 5/16" bar.

My hands look bad but I feel worse. My lats are DESTROYED and my right ring finger feels tweaked. I think I went too far. Hopefully a week off will do the trick. Next bending was supposed to be 6/4 or 6/5 anyway.

Right Ring Finger took far longer to heal than expected. Not even sure it's 100% yet.

Big Shiny Bastard: Stuck at 4.25". Too springy and on the wide side for a crush. DAMN!

3/8"x8" HRS DO: Didn't expect that to be so easy.

3/8"x7" HRS DO: Still not hard. To 1.5" with minimal effort

3/8"x6.5" HRS DO: Harder. Took a lot to get it right inside 2"

5/16"x4.5" Reverse kink to 70 degrees and finished. The last quarter inch was BRUTAL.

1/4"x4.5" Triangle G5 DO: Last quarter inch was BRUTAL

1/4"x6.5" 1018: Tried to start Heslep but barely moved. Got to 50ish degrees Vertical then reverse to 90ish and finished

Kick my 19 year old self's ass. That is when I last bent, roughly 7 years ago.

I'm honestly surprised to be where I am as quickly as I am so I'm lost for a goal. I have never bent an Insane before so I'd say that is a nice short to medium term goal. Long term I'd say a KOAB would be cool. Medium term is less clear. I've heard the new shiny's are easier so I'm not sure how long a Mag would take me with the current stock. My stock is the 545ish batch and that big folded up until that 4" point and then it STOPPED. I've never cut an Edgin so a 6.5" would be a nice medium term goal too.

Had to have an extended break because the right ring finger tendon issue was nagging. Hopefully it is gone but it does feel a bit tight again after a bending workout today.

8/3:

Not a great workout at all. I think the hole in my hand from last time was holding me back a bit. Having trouble ignoring that little pain.

 

60d x 3: First one was honestly hard so I had to go to longer wraps than my normal warmup pair. First bad sign.

 

Big Shiny to 3": Backwards progress. Started this in doubles to handle the pain and didn't help enough

Mag Bastard to 3 1/8": Backwards progress. Same as above. Doubles didn't do much

Huge Bastard (460-480 Stock): This was from my very first Bender's Bag. I think it was 460. The other stuff I've been doing was 420ish.

5/16" x 6" 1018: Old as hell stock. Felt easier than the previous. Maybe 420ish

5/16 x 5.5" OLD 1018: Didn't focus on the kink and wound up 3/4" off center. Crush was hard but still got to 1.5"

5/16" x 5" OLD 1018: Kinked to 30 degrees. Burned out.

BENDING PYRAMID: No re-wraps and no breaks.

1/4" CRS. 8" down to 4.5" and back to 8" in 0.5" increments. Then went back over it with crush pads for 1-2 hits per piece. Whole process was about 10 minutes for all 15 bends.

1/4"x6" G5 DU - Only a wobble. 5 degrees probably. Hands were hurting and no specific DU warmup made this feel awkward and hard. It'll die when fresh

Mag Bastard to 40ish degrees - This is irritating. My stock is so old and mixed that this could have been the 460 batch. Started in doubles which may have been the problem too. Those are words I never thought I would type ...

Big Shiny Bastard - DEAD. Crush felt STRONG. A little slow but zero stopping points. Finished at 1.75" and might have been able to get it closer

3/8"x6" HRS - DEAD. Same as above. The 6.5" was TOUGH a while back and this one got to 1.75" without too much hassle

Hexabastard - 20ish degrees. Furthest I've gotten so far but still no luck. Probably need to go at this fresher rather than 4-5 bends deep

Grand Bastard (460ish stock) - Stuck around 30 degrees. Middle finger second knuckle (pistol grip) was hurting something awful by this point

5/16" x 6" 1018 (Superior Steel) - DEAD. PR for this stock. Seems to have a tough crush and be a slow mover vs FBBC stock ... but this was also the 6th bend so it may have been fatigue.

Your bending strength is coming back quickly, you are killing some huge steel already. What type of wraps are you using for these bends right now? How are the hands holding up with the high volume of bending you have been doing?

Thanks Stephen. Still a long way to go until I'm where I want to be. I'm using a big sheet of tandy leather that I chopped up a while ago. For the bigger stuff it's 4.25"x17" or so singles. Not positive on the length. Works out to about 1" wrapped around a 5/16" bar. Those double wrap, fat pad, leverage using cheaters never prosper ... right Josh Dale??

 

My volume isn't where it should be yet. I work 50 hour weeks and have a 45 minute drive to and from work so I usually workout before my shorter day Sunday or on an off Thursday or Friday. Sometimes it's tough to have the energy for everything. A lot of my weight workouts are done with dumbbells at my store in between customers. The short answer is that my right ring finger injury is still a bit tender but overall I'm healing pretty well for only being back 4 months with 5 weeks off that off for the tendon injury.
