Mark Henry Dumbbell aka The Myers Bell

Just wanted to share a fun piece of equipment I picked up last year.

Back story: A friend of mine named Mike (you probably know him as the guy playing the guitar riff in the intro to “this week in grip”) toured Terry Todd’s grip museum in Austin TX a few years back. Terry had the original (and only) Mark Henry Dumbbell in a wooden case. Mike reached down and pulled as hard as he could trying to lift the weight. He only managed to rattle it around in the box. Regardless, Terry was impressed that Mike was able to move the 300lbs Dumbbell with a 2.5in handle.

Mike got excited at the prospect of lifting such a monsterous weight. He contacted Terry Todd and got permission to have the same manufacture (Myers Metal Workshop) craft a dumbbell with the exact same dimensions as the Mark Henry Dumbbell, only this replica would be 200lbs and have the same 2.5in handle.

Long story, but Mike got out of grip training and I bought the Myers Dumbbell (what we call the replica) from him. Not a lot of big time grip guys have tried to lift it, but I’m proud to say that I am the only one to lift this beast.

It’s a beauty!

Awesome! I'd love to try it!

It’s really fun. I only got a good lift on it when my 2.5in Crusher numbers were higher
