Andrew Dube
I haven't been practicing this style of bending but I decided to give it a go today after a trip to the metal store for some other projects. Definitely the hardest bend I've ever done and deserving of the name! No awards for speed or style but I think there are not many who have bent this bar. I'm very pleased it went my way today!
KapMan
You are a manimal. I tried a 12” spike and my fat ass couldnt do using my leg. So i tried my knee and kinked it. I suck lol

Once you figure out the technique you should blow through a 12"!

KRC
What is the history of this bar, I can't find anything about it? And where did 49" length come from?
acromegaman
@KRC Here's the Iron Tamer doing his thing on that bar and he also references Eric Vining. The bar he is bending is only 48" long though.

Sources say that the Goliath bar orginated with Eric Vining and is his signature feat.
Fisher 47
In Dennis Rogers' Dungeon Memories there is a clip of Eric Vining bending goliath and he destroys it, in under 30 seconds, and he takes a pause of a couple of seconds before he finished it off.
paul valpreda
Fantastic bend, Andrew! Were you sore and bruised the day after?

And where did 49" length come from? I first saw Eric Vining bend this bar on the dungeon memories video from Dennis Rogers site. Also, Dave Whitley and Nathaniel Days have posted about it on their IG pages. When I went to the metal shop they had this bar already cut at 49 and didn't want to bother them with the extra inch since I wasn't even sure I'd move it. Next time I'll be bending it for time, at the correct length. 1 hour ago, paul valpreda said: Fantastic bend, Andrew! Were you sore and bruised the day after? Thank you! Yes, I'm always sore the day after braced bending. Especially around the hamstring insertion with this style of bending. Donc101
Is this the Goliath bar, at 48 inches? If so, not a cheap bar.

Its been highly recommended to me that these bars are bought local. I’m trying to source long bars locally. I like long bending.

You bend any yet? What would you think is the difference in difficulty between it and 3/4” round at the same length? Any difference in technique between the round and flat? Thanks.
