Gary Gray
Look at You-Tube "Gym Training for Atlas Stones" by Craig Pfister , published 1-27-2013 at the 1:10 min. mark. He is using a tire mounted on its rim with a pipe attached to the rim, with weight plates on the pipe to adjust the weight of the tire. I just made a tire "Atlas Stone" like this using a 8" pipe x 3/4" wide (I use standard plates), screwed into a 3/4" pipe flange. The pipe flange was then welded onto the inside of the rim (not the outside of the rim as shown in the Video). You can also screw a longer or shorter pipe into the pipe flange to adjust the number of weight plates you are using. My total cost for this was $40.00 for the welding as I already had everything else.
